To be honest, Lacy was probably my last choice from a production standpoint, but looking at the list of guys who have already visited or were scheduled to, he might have been the only one they they could get on a (relatively) cheap one-year deal. Maybe he'll be our 3rd down/short yardage back. If Rawls is healthy, I can't see him losing the starting job to Lacy unless Lacy gets in ridiculous shape between now and August.

Well, I definitely think this move should light a fire under Rawls. And if it doesn't light one under Lacy, then he blows a chance at the next payday.

This was probably meant to light a fire under Rawls, although I would argue that he needs a healthy year more than motivation, but $5.5 million is a pretty expensive fire.

It could be argued that Rawls will be the main guy, Lacy will be the short yardage/goal line guy, and Prosise is the change of pace scatback.

The three of them certainly represent different body types and running styles. I predict a 40-40-20 split in carries aming the three of them and hope that this split helps to keep Rawls and his reckless style a little more healthy.

Lacy reportedly weighed in at 264 pounds at the time of his meeting. Pete explains it as weight he has packed rehabbing his ankle injury.

But in any case, in order for this move to work, Lacy get down to 240 and has to maintain his 240 pound weight throughout the season. Lacy got into "great playing shape" at the start of the Packers season but the chatter around the Green Bay locker room is that he quickly packed on the weight again during the season.

I like his potential as the bruiser and goal line/short yardage specialist and then mixing in prosise and rawls. It's a 3 headed monster that offers a bit of everything and it could work...if all 3 stay healthy

Meh, it's 3.3% of the $167M salary cap. The mean cap hit for a player in the top 51 is 3.27%. Lacy is getting paid right around what the average NFL player is making. And in terms of cap space, we barely have peanuts invested in the RB position.
