Think the Seahawks have the RBs they need on the roster, just need better luck with health. Got bigger needs then signing a RB at the tail end of his career. Good draft for RBs, if they feel the need to amp up the competition.

If the draft is deep at RB's as they say, Seattle can pick one up in the mid rounds.

Absolutely no!
If we need a RB, it is a deep draft for that.
AP not a good fit in our system.

Agreed.... I'd rather get our RB in the draft...

AP of three years ago was 'proven.' AP of 2017 is anything but.

No way he comes here, not even for the vet minimum.

Would much rather spend a 3rd on a rb

My guess is that the Raiders and Seahawks are desirable landing spots for different reasons.

AP did have success under Bevell. Still pass.

Yeah. I would think that the Raiders would be able to pay him more and be willing to give him more touches on the field. His interest in the Hawks would most likely come from wanting to reunite with Bevell and wanting to play on championship contender. Those two things might make him think about taking less money than he otherwise would, but it would still be too much money to spend on a player we don't need.

The interesting thing about the prospect of signing AP is that yesterday on 710 I heard the possible salary number to be only $2-3M plus incentives. That would be something I could get behind, though I'm skeptical another team out there wouldn't offer a lot more.

I don't like the AP thought. But am interested in Murray from Oak. 3 year vet, but what would he cost?

Older running backs go downhill quickly.

Remember Shaun Alexander's last couple of years?

That was hard to watch.

AP is a great player, but the human body wears down.

No on AP.

Seattle should get fresher younger runners to compete with the current backs.

I am not pining for him, but I'm not so sure it's a bad idea. He may be on the verge of turning 32, but he's not your normal athlete even for NFL standards. This isn't a washed up Franco Harris or Edgerrin James. I agree with this sentiment from NFL.com: "On the wrong side of age 30, he's still an obvious candidate for the best age-32 season in history." We have plenty of young guys at RB already. 3 of them with only 1 or 2 years of exp. If he wants to come in cheap to play for a ring, AP may not be a bad add at all. If he just wants a payday before he's put out to pasture, then he should go to Cleveland.

He won't take league minimum.

Makes no sense to tie up capital on a 32 year old running back.
You can get a platoon combo of draft choices, walk ons and free agent RBs instead.

The thing with signing AP for me is:

A) Short term solution, that'll muddy the water for the following season if AP is only sort of OK this season.
B) Keeps the team from finding out what they have with the RBs they have now on the roster.
C) The draft is chalk full of promising RBs that offer long term solution.

Don't think it'll happen.

Agreed on all points. I'd say that if any of our running backs from 2016 (other than Christine Michael) had been able to stay healthy all year, our running game would have been much better than it was. Obviously the offensive line was an issue that would have hindered the running game to an extent no matter what, but there's something to be said for having an offensive line and running back (or rotation of running backs) working and growing together over the course of a season.

Instead, we went thru 11 running backs and one backup quarterback whom we used as a running back. That's not even taking into account the end arounds, reverses, sweeps to our receivers, designed QB runs when Wilson was healthy enough to do them, scrambles by Wilson that turned into runs, fake punts, botched snaps and screen passes that were caught behind the line and counted as running plays. If you count all of those plays, then 18 different players "carried" the ball. If we're gonna draft any running backs, so be it, but I would like to see a full season of Rawls and Prosise being the primary running backs if they're healthy enough and I feel like a guy like Peterson, or any good veteran free agent back, would want the ball too much for any real development to happen with those two guys in 2017.

Im actually on board with signing AP guys. I believe when this guy is healthy he can play at an all pro level the year prior he ran for almost 1500 yards and 11 TDs. In our offense he wouldnt need to carry the ball 300x. Our championship window will eventually close we are literally on a win now situation. AP wants to go out on a high note and having him with both Rawls and prosise would be an effective group.
