I don't know about any of these players. But a brief look at there stats . I really don't get this trade. The Reds get 2 relievers from the worst bullpen in baseball, and an outfielder, which it looks like to me there might be 4 or 5 outfielders that the Reds have right now in the minor that are better. and that's not including Ervin, Williams

I think Lucan Sims was the target of the trade. Tucker and Wiser look more like collateral damage. Sims has 1 option year remaining, but the other 2 are out of assignment options.

I'd say one factor might have been the Reds didn't think Duvall was worth what he'll make in arbitration next season. Winker and Schebler are younger, cheaper, and probably better options to play the corners.

There's a growing opinion they should be doing the same thing with Billy Hamilton. He's projected to make $7M+ next year. That $7M could probably be better spent elsewhere.

With Winker and Schebler on the corners it's a below average defensive outfield regardless of who plays CF.

Ervin isn't great defensively. I haven't seen Mason Williams play enough to know about him.

Homer pitched another solid game. Was a little surprised he pitched the 8th after the club had a day off. He only had 91 pitches through 7 IP, but Riggleman has been Captain Hook in that situation most of the time.

The offense struggled for the most part. Not a lot of opportunities to score, but Phil Ervin not scoring on the Votto double was a killer. Ervin has hit since being called back up, but his base running gaffe negates what should have been a good night for the kid. Can't blame it all on Ervin though. The team layed a collective rotten offensive egg in that game.

With Schebler and Winker on the DL
Phil Ervin not scoring on the Votto double was a killer

I knew that was going to be bad as soon as I saw it. I don't know what he was thinking. When Schebler comes back one of those outfielders are going back to AAA. And that didn't help Ervin's case

I was surprised that Harvey wasn't traded, but I'm also glad they didn't give him away for nothing.

They say which is just a rumor, that the Reds might try to sign him. Harvey seems to like Cincinnati. That's probably because he doesn't have the media following him 24 - 7. Also it could give him time to increase his value . I doubt that he would sign for more than one year though.

It's now apparent there wasn't a great demand for Harvey's services. The Reds may like him more than the rest of the league.

Free agents weren't breaking the bank this past off season. If there's not a lot of interest in Harvey he may not be as expensive as he wishes he was. I think the Reds will be looking for a starter this off season. Could just as easily be Harvey as someone else if the Price is Right.

Teams anymore, don't like to give up their prospects for a player who is only going to be there for 2 months, and maybe the playoffs.

I agree. It's becoming more common that if a team is trading a prospect it's because they've already determined he's not part of their future.

This past off season there was a lot more teams filling voids through trade. It left a lot of free agents unsigned or signing for less than they anticipated. There seems to be a more widespread change in the way teams are valuing talent.

It'll be interesting to see what Bryce Harper gets this off season.

Adam Duvall made his debut for the Braves last night. He went 0-3 with a walk and scored a run.

I guess the Braves are hoping for some instant offense with the power Duvall brings to the table. But he slashed for .212/.277/.385 after the All Star break last year and .204/.286/.395 this season. That's a long time to struggle that mightily. I wouldn't think he'll be an everyday player much longer if he doesn't get on a hot streak.

Riggleman kept playing him and saying they needed to get him going. But it never materialized.

The Braves may non-tender him after the season. Teams do that when they don't think the player is worth the arbitration salary. I wish him luck, he's a good guy. But I think he may be looking for work this off season if his struggles continue.

I was thinking that that was a three game series with the Nats. So I didn't see the game last night. Which I guess that was a good thing
Mahle looks like he isn't fooling anyone right now' I wonder if the opposing teams have picked something up.

All the damage against Mahle came off singles, walks, and a HBP. So it's not like they were clobbering the guy.

I think it's as simple as he's struggling with his fastball command. There's been some tinkering with him from the coaching staff which has mostly made it worse. He looked like a guy that wasn't throwing with a lot of confidence in what he was trying to do.

Well they sent him to AAA today.

I'm still wondering about Schebler. I know he's playing down in AAA. I don't know if he is playing in the field yet. He's been on the DL for almost a month now

Adam Duvall has really struggled since being dealt.
Duvall is 3-26 with Atlanta and is mostly coming off the bench. He hasn't had an extra base hit or a RBI and has slashed .115/.179/.115 since the trade.

Preston Tucker hasn't been great, but by comparison he looks better. His slash is .207/.303/.345 with the Reds.

The two pitchers (Sims & Wisler) have pitched ok at AAA. I assume they will be called up when rosters expand. Sims has one option year, but Wisler does not. So for Wisler it's most likely now or never with the Reds.

I wonder if something is wrong with Duvall. an injury or an illness, or something going on off field. I've always thought he would get better as time went on not worse. He won't be in baseball much longer if he continues this downward spiral. Sad, I hope he can rebound from this.

The Braves made the playoffs, but I'll be surprised if Duvall makes the playoff roster.

I expect them to non-tender him by early November. If that's the case it'll be interesting to see if the Reds have intetest in re-signing him to what would most likely be a minor league deal.

Duvall will get a contract. He's a better hitter than he showed.
