Mailke Zaire starts at QB, Cam Mcdaniel at HB, impressive first drive for both, TD on opening possession. Defense looked bad.

Wow Golson gets sacked twice, overthrows an open receiver for what would have been a TD. Folston looked good on that drive, and Jaylon Smith just showed off some insane speed.

Yeah it was.

This game drove home that is going to be an interesting year from a defensive scheme standpoint, going from a bend but don't break to a bring the heat every chance you get. Not really a fan.

I love our running backs. In fact I really like the whole offense on the field today. I would love to see Grace back in the middle though on defense. Bottom line, I'm getting optomistic about this year.

I said from the start, when it's over he'll make us forget about Teo. Just my opinion but that's what I think.

Jaylon Smith is going to be a great player for sure. I think Notre Dame have several first round talents on their team which hasn't always been the case in the not so distant past.

I still haven't forgotten Ross Browner. I won't forget Teo, but I don't think I'll be forgetting Smith for a long time either. I just hope he sticks around for Four years.

I simply think Smith has way more physical gifts than Teo. In the first few years I simply wasn't that impressed with Teo. Even in his last two years I thought he played very well but never really was awed by his athleticism. Smith to me is different, I think he's going to be a better college player and will eventually be a better pro too. Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think Teo ever had an interception until his senior year. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed watching Teo play but I always thought he was somewhat overrated, just my opinion. To me he was a solid player not a star.

I love Smith (and he might have the most talent), but he came to a team that was coming off the National Championship game. Teo was a top ranked player who committed to ND at what could have been the low point of the program's history. Senior day losses to Syracuse and connecticut in consecutive years. I truly believe that Teo may have been the most important recruit that ND has ever signed. (even Clausen signed when people still thought that Weis was an offensive genius).

I have to somewhat agree with this statement. Teo is one of the biggest recruits ever for ND. Tough to top top. Also I don't see J. Smith coming in 2nd in the Heismen like Te'o did.
