Looks like Belt is really working on his bunting ability. He tried a bunt yesterday and successfully excecuted one today. That could pay huge dividends down the line.

Looks like the Giants are creating some separation between them and SD, at least. And making headway with the Phils.

Moore is terrible. So puzzling. He has great stuff. Sanchez 2.0?

It would be great if Moore doesn't make another start for the rest of this disaster of a season. His nickname should be Softy Lefty.

They are also doing a great job of easily becoming the worst team in franchise history. This team makes the 1985 team actually look only below average.

The only veterans who should be back for 2018 are Posey, Crawford, and Bumgarner. The rest of that stale, stagnant group can go. In addition to the roster, the FO and scouting dept. should also have some changes after a beyond awful season like this one. The organization should be completely embarrassed with team on the field this season.

Have to wonder when this team will win another damn game at this rate.

Marty said that Bruce blew up at the team after the game. I am not sure if he was setting a hypothetical fir discussion, or if it really happened, though.

Before today, I have been saying I give it a 50/50 that Bochy retires after this season. At this point, I am edging towards I will be surprised if he is back.

He won't be fired (nor SHOULD he be), though. He will retire.

And I suspect, with him ducking out, there will be a rather extensive rebuild of the coaching staff. Maybe Nevin and Rags are the only two to stick, with Nevin taking the reigns. Maybe Decker sticks around and takes over for BamBam.

Mets win 8-2, hitting four homers (to none for the Giants), and they were 1-16 with RISP, so this should have been a LOT worse.

Have we hit bottom yet?
I'll go first---YES!!!

I don't think so.

Moore and Cain are a dead weight on the pitching staff, and none of the relievers are pitching worth a d@mn. We just had six innings in which we scored the whole series, and only ONE was followed by a SDI.

And the hitting is atrocious. Posey came up twice with the bases loaded today, and had a weak groundout RBI and a Sac Fly. Even a single in both circumstances would have netter four runs, and kept the inning going. He's hitting less than .240 with RISP, not good for the team leader. (Obligatory H/T to the past.)

In this series, the Giants had 23 hits, 19 of them singles, and a grand total of seven walks.

We scored 8 runs in three games, and gave up 24 runs in those same 3 games. Our run difference is (-107) to date.

Giants are 9-32 when not scoring first, which should put some urgency into scoring early, but it never happens.

Giants are 13-38 when getting three walks or less, and you'd think that would lead to more team patience rather than less. But of course not.

Nothing is working. Nothing. Pitching = awful. Hitting = dreadful. Fielding = so-so. Decision making = puzzling (why was Pence stealing today?!?) Bad breaks = far too many of these.

I think the Giants are who they are this year. There is no short term fix available. No more dumpster dives to resurrect some has been or never was' career.

Play the kids, see what they can do. Even if they suck, they are not stealing veteran at bats from the likes of Morse or Hill. Cain should go to the bullpen. He throws well for an inning or two, and then it falls apart. Moore should be sent to Augusta, he's terrible. (I wonder if he is hurt. His ERA in April was 4.80, in May was 5.14, in June it is 8.88!) If Beede and Gregorio come up, at least they'd get some big league experience.

And for the love of Bonds, get a new hitting coach. What we are teaching in this system is not working, and it is getting worse and not better.

The Lunatic Fringe is becoming unhinged. And I am happy to join them.

But yeah, yay for draft picks. :tsk:
