I wouldn't give up a bag of heavily used pucks for Lundqvist. What is with the infatuation over aging goalies that play or used to play for our bitter rivals!?!

False. Sometimes you have to let a player that hasn't fully developed and matured go so that several others have that same opportunity. You could potentially wave goodbye to the successes of Couturier, Konecny and/or Patrick if we still had Schenn.

When was Schenn ever a 65 point player with the Flyers anyway? Oh, never. He's been struggling again lately anyway. Streaky player that won't help anyone win a Cup. No thanks.

    Schenn- 52 pts 58 games
    Lehtera-3 points 38 games

You're right having Lehtera this season is much better.

Hexy CLEARLY did not pull the trigger on that trade to win THIS SEASON. It was a LONG TERM move that will potentially pay off very well in a few years with Frost and another 1st round pick on the way.

Was that an admission that our team as currently constructed is not ready to make a serious Cup run? Possibly, but does anyone want to argue otherwise? We're too young, but this is a chance for our young guys to make the playoffs and grow exponentially from it.

You're the only one here saying Schenn > Lehtera. That's not the argument!!! DUH!! Of course Schenn is better than Lehtera, that's why we got TWO first round picks in the deal!!

And again im saying if we had Schenn this season we would possibly be a cup favorite in which you just stated was false in your post #4202.

If they move him I expect it will be something similar to that. Possibly more since he has another year left. I'm not tied to him either, I don't particularly like him or dealing with the Rangers at that level. But he's probably the best dman available at this deadline. And I don't think the Flyers are competing for the Cup without adding at least 1 legit top 4 dman.

I'd rather stand pat, ride it out this season. Next year hopefully Morin, Myers, and/or Sanheim can step up and be that #3 guy on the defense. Forwards will be in similarly good shape with a handful of guys to pick from internally that could be upgrades. Then you're in a good position next spring to start making runs at the cup.

I am worried more that we dont have Elliott than our defense.

Schenn doesn't improve our defense. He's -15 for his career, which makes him a one-dimensional player that can't play defense. The guy was carried this season by Schwartz and Tarasenko. He has proven to be below average without them.

I agree with that. But a healthy Elliot is a "free" solution. Can't readily fix the defense I don't think.

Not saying it's broken really, just not a 'cup contender' defense.

I still wonder if Couts would have broken out his offensive game if Schenn was still here. I am not sure G goes to wing if Schenn was still here. I read somewhere Frost has a real shot at making the team next year as a 19 year old. Hopefully he does and it becomes "Schenn who"?

Well this really sucks. Just saw Elliott is out 5-6 weeks after having core muscle surgery. Looks like trade deadline deal is now necessary.

Just saw this also. Dell could be an interesting option if available.

With Brian Elliott out, wouldn't be surprised to see #Flyers kick tires on goalies. #RedWings actively shopping Petr Mrazek, whom they are not expected to qualify this summer as RFA. Exact situation how Steve Mason ended up in PHI. Lehner + Dell among others on TradeBait.

ya.. that's going to be a problem. Still, I hope they don't give up much to address it. I don't really want to give up a prospect or anything higher than a 2nd round pick for a few months of a goalie.

Lol First off, you can't compare the two. Lehtera has been a healthy scratch for half of the season. Nobody is arguing that these two are equal or close.

Secondly, you're acting as if this trade was a one for one. Apparently we traded Schenn for just Lehtera. What the fuck are you talking about, I mean really!?!

Furthermore, one guy is playing on the top line of a good team with elite level talent on his wing and the other on the 3rd or 4th line with guys like Weise and Laughton. You can't compare their fucking stats...Lol

I'm done on this argument. Keep going if you like.
