he was not jason witten last year.100% seems like a cap saving move. Witten was due $12M this year... the Cowboys are in negative cap space, they can't even sign rookies at this point. I'm honestly shocked they didn't just cut Witten and save $8M, but they probably found a way to save the $8M with the contract extension and keep a vet player and all time great TE.

You are incorrect Sir.the Cowboys are in negative cap space, they can't even sign rookies at this point.
certainly has lost a step or two but he blocks very well and still deadly on the little option route pass for 7 or 8 yard gains.he was not jason witten last year.

It's a cap savings move and they will find Witten's replacement in this draft. This is a solid draft for TE's.

Where are you getting negative cap space from?
2nd lowest yards of his career aside from his rookie season. only the 4th time hes had under 70 catches.69 catches, almost 700 yards, average per catch right where it's always been. Not really the go to guy in the red zone.
Seems like he was pretty much Jason Witten to me. And as usual, played 16 games.

his 42.1 YPG was the lowest since his rookie year.
im just saying he wasnt jason witten in terms of fantasy
Its moving money.I could give a fuck about fantasy.
But he was pretty much steady old Witten to my eye and I saw every game.
Bit slower, but just as reliable as ever (Beasley really stepped up) and great in the lockerroom and on the field.
Worth the extension.
Its moving money.
