Good thing the team held on to the upper level starting prospects. They look to get plenty of chances.
Last I heard, both Samardzija and Bumgarner are progressing faster than expected. That's something at least.

Okert was the one recalled to take Cueto's spot. I assume he'll be available tonight and then get sent down tomorrow. The question is, who gets the boot from the 40 man roster tomorrow?

Johnson is a good possibility but they could still stash Bumgarner away on the 60 man to buy more time into making a hard decision on a 40 man roster spot. Will Smith could get moved to the 60 man as well since he hasn't started rehab and will probably spend at least two weeks in the minors before he's called up once he does start rehab. However, knowing how the FO seems to think about the 60 day, I doubt either happens. Johnson could be put on the 60 day himself but why would they pay a guy who's never pitched a day in the big leagues minimum salary when he's injured? I mean, that is unprecedented for this club. I cannot think of any such scenario playing out like that.
