Former University of Iowa basketball star Roy Marble is awaiting biopsy results after three tumors were discovered in his head.
Marble, 47, the Hawkeyes’ career scoring leader, had a biopsy done Tuesday at University Hospitals in Iowa City.
Marble said tumors have been found behind his right eye, on his temple and on his face.
“I’ve never been one to run from a battle,” Marble said Wednesday evening, “but I’m not afraid to admit I’m scared.”
Marble said he’s recently had vision problems with his right eye.
He said he’s shared the news with his children, including son Devyn, who completed his career at Iowa in March and is now a rookie with the NBA’s Orlando Magic.
Marble said he’s also talked to Iowa coach Fran McCaffery, whose son, Patrick, was diagnosed with cancer in the spring.
“I don’t know what it is, but I’m going to fight,” Marble said.
