Iverson among ex-NBAers to join 3-on-3 league

Games will be played in half-court settings and will feature 4-point shots, designated by three large circles several feet beyond the traditional 3-point line. Games will be played to 60 points and there will be a seven-minute halftime once a team reaches 30 points.

Ex-professional players over the age of 30 will be eligible to play. Teams will consist of a player/captain and four teammates and there will be a draft in March.

League play will start on June 24 and conclude on Aug. 12 with games being played every Saturday in different cities. All teams will play games on each Saturday. Players will receive 52 percent of league revenue.

The idea seems pretty cool. Not crazy about the 4-point shot though.

There's something called baseball that gets played around that time. I'm interested in this league as well, I think the pick-up basketball feel with 3 on 3's is pretty intriguing. Still, SMH L+USC, SMH.

Former Heat players “White Chocolate” Williams — known for his dribbling and passing wizardry — Rashard Lewis, Mike Bibby and Jermaine O’Neal have committed to the league, as have Kenyon Martin, Stephen Jackson and Bonzi Wells. Hall of Famer Payton, who played on the Heat’s 2006 championship team with Williams, Dwyane Wade, Shaquille O’Neal and Alonzo Mourning, will be a coach, as will George “Iceman” Gervin.
