BUFFALO BILLS
1st round - Josh Allen. Major Hit.
1st round - Tremaine Edmunds. Hit, but signed with Bears.
3rd round - Harrison Phillips. Hit, but signed with Vikings.
4th round - Taron Johnson. Hit. Lamar Jackson's least favorite player.
5th round - Siran Neal. Okay. Decent backup.
5th round - Wyatt Teller. Miss.
6th round - Ray-Ray McCloud. Miss.
7th round - Austin Proehl. Miss

Going to give this a B+. Josh Allen was the big hit. Johnson was a terrific find.

The Rams top pick was #89 but they picked 4 players who have signed $5M+ per year 2nd contracts. This Draft supplied the Rams with multiple quality rotational players who were vital for the team's having multiple consecutive winning seasons. However, without any average starting quality players it's hard to look back fondly on this Draft or see it as a success.

No first rounder. The Eagles drafted Goedert in the 2nd. Maddox and Sweat in the 4th and Jordan Mailata in the 7th.

All with the team and all are studs.

Broncos

Rd 1- Bradley Chubb- Good for Denver when healthy. Battled injuries but when all is said and done he sent us Sean Payton. Good pick, could have been better if he was healthy.

Rd 2- Courtland Sutton- Hard to judge Sutton. He has been good in some ways but also have wasted him in others with our QB situation. I would say you have to rank him as a good pick but a lot has held him back from being an even better pick.

Rd 3- Royce Freeman- Not a good pick. Could be worse he had a role in Denver before cutting him after just 3 years but he is the type of RB you could really get anywhere in the draft. Still in the NFL, but hasn't lived up to a 3rd rd choice.

Rd 3- Isaac Yiadom- I would call this one a bad pick. Although still in the NFL. Bouncing around because he has good physical tools and can play special teams but never dependable. Flagged a lot in Denver. Bad pick but at least he is still surviving. Similar to Freeman but we got more out of Freeman. This was a typical John Elway pick. Under developed CB with good strengths. This was Elway's favorite type of CB to draft.

Rd 4- Josey Jewell- Good pick. Starter, dependable. Tackle machine. Now on his 4th coach in Denver and each coach quickly learns to love him.

Rd 4- DaeSean Hamilton- At one time this looked like a good pick his rookie year... After that he couldn't catch anything and tore his ACL.

Rd 5- Troy Fumagalli- Little impact. Played in Denver 2 years. Has a few small glimpses but never put it together.

Rd 6- Sam Jones- Awful pick. No impact. Lasted a year in Denver and never played.

Rd 7- Keishawn Bierria- Lasted 1 year. Played every game on special teams and made ZERO impact as a special teams player. Cut after one year. Think he played for the Cardinals for a year then was out of the league.

Rd 7- Davis Williams- RB from Arkansas. Odd pick to me. Was a 3rd string RB in college. ZERO impact in the NFL.

Not a great draft here. Chubb, Sutton and Jewell save it from being an AWFUL draft. Freeman and Yiadom are still in the NFL and DaeSean Hamilton was on the Dolphins PS last year but they contribute about as much as an undrafted player.

Seahawks
1. Rashad Penny- Just can't stay on the field. Picking him in the 1st round was questionable from the start but his injuries made it much worse. When healthy, he can be dynamic but the best ability is availability.
2. Rasheem Green- 3rd rd pick that only started to show some flashes in year 4 and has now moved on
3. Will Dissly- 4th rd TE that we didn't get to see on the field much until year 3. Injuries again that really lower the grade. Now the number 2 behind Fant and although a great kid that works hard and plays ST or whatever is asked of him, can't say he has really panned out.
4. Shaquem Griffin- Cute story pairing him with his twin brother but out of the league now.
5. Tre Flowers- An average corner who struggles in man to man and is now in Cinci.
6. Michael Dickson- 3rd of 4 picks in the 5th round. A punter who has been good for us. 1st team AP his rookie year so good 5th rd value.
7. Jamarco Jones- Meh. Moved on to the Titans
8.Jacob Martin- Sent to Houston in the Jadaveon Clowney package as a throw in. Nothing special.
9. Alex McGough- Who? Lol. 7th rd practice squad QB. waste of a pick.
Dissly and Dickson the only ones that remain. Dissly and Penny healthy could have made this a C grade but as of now D- to F.

Minnesota Vikings

Mike Hughes-Miss. Marginal back up CB still floating around
Brian O'Neil-Hit, one of the better RT's in the NFL
Tyler Conklin-Meh, ok back up TE, now with the Jets
Daniel Carlson-Should've been a hit, but our coach didn't know how to handle kickers. One of the best kickers in NFL after Zimmer cut him after one bad game
Colby Gosset-Who?
Ade Aruna- Gesundheit
Devante Downs-forgettable

Getting a good RT I guess moves into the C- range, if it weren't for him a straight F. D or D+ maybe, i don't know, it wasn't good which is why we have a new GM

2018 49ers Draft

Rd1 Mike McGlinchey, RT Notre Dame. Hit. Good player, but not 9th overall good. Signed for big $ Denver.
Rd2 Dante Pettis, WR UW. Big Miss. Kyle Traded up for this bust. Currently wasting oxygen in Chicago.
Rd3 Fred Warner, LB BYU. Big Hit. One of the best LBs in the game.
Rd3 Tarvarius Moore, DB Southern Miss. Miss.
Rd4 Kentavius Street, DT N. Carolina St. Miss.
Rd5 D.J. Reed, DB Kansas St. Hit. IIRC, been a starter for Seattle and the Jets.
Rd6 Marcell Harris, DB Florida. Miss
Rd7 Jullian Taylor, DT Temple. Miss.

Probably grade it at a B or B-. Got one great player, one good player and one DB that we could never find a spot for that has gone on to do well elsewhere.

1.15 Kolton Miller OT - Solid tackle that has been resigned.
2.57 P. J. Hall DT - Spent two unproductive seasons with us before being cut and is currently in the XFL.
3.65 Brandon Parker OT - Recently resigned despite not being very good. Fred Warner was taken a few picks later.
3.87 Arden Key DE - Committed a facemask penalty that eliminated us from the playoffs in 2020; was cut in the proceeding offseason.
4.110 Nick Nelson CB - Cut after two seasons and spent all of 2022 out of the league entirely.
5.140 Maurice Hurst Jr. DT - Never took the next step after flashing a bit in his first two seasons.
5.173 Johnny Townsend P - Spent just one season on the team.
6.216 Azeem Victor LB - Never made it in the NFL.
7.228 Marcell Ateman WR - Mainstay on the practice squad who had a couple of good games given his draft status.

Outside of Miller, complete disaster of a draft that set the tone for Gruden's second tenure here.

  • 1ST – LB Leighton Vander Esch.
  • Injury prone, but solid starting LB
  • 2ND – G Connor Williams.
  • Average starting LG, didn't make second contact.
  • 3RD – WR Michael Gallup.
  • Solid WR3, until last year was dependable.
  • 4TH – DE Dorance Armstrong.
  • Took a few years of development, but has become a pretty good DE.
  • 4TH – TE Dalton Schultz.
  • Similar to Armstrong, took time to develop but became a good starting TE.
  • 5TH – QB Mike White.
  • Longshot. Didn't work out.
  • 6TH – LB Chris Covington.
  • No impact.
  • 6TH – WR Cedrick Wilson
  • Dependable ST player and WR4, didn't get second contract.
Five decent starters and one additional key contributer. No stars. B+.

1.8 Roquan Smith- Good player. Probably taken a bit too high and didn’t resign, so kind of a waste.

2.7 James Daniels - Was supposed to be a solution to the bad oline, but never made an impression.

2.19 Anthony Miller- head case. Failure.

4.15 Joel iyiegbuniwe - STs player, about what you would expect here.

5.8 Bills Nichols - Turned out to have a few good years. Haven’t followed him since he left.

6.6 Kylie Fitts - never amounted to anything on the bears

7.6 javon Wims - had some good games. Not bad for a 7th rounder, but was also a head case.

Other than Roquan and Nichols, this draft was a pretty hard fail. And I felt good about this draft at the time. Hopefully the GM now is better.
