I know Thome is getting in, but he won’t get my “vote”.

At no point in his career did I ever look at him and say “there goes the best there ever was”. He was just a face in the crowd.

But since people THINK he was clean, he gets moved up to the front of the line.

I'm really curious to see how Rolen and Andruw will do. I think Rolen's an easy HOFer and I'd probably but Andruw in as well, but I don't think they're going to get much support. Or at least not their first few years. Rolen had trouble staying healthy, but I think his offense (.281/.364/.490, 122 OPS+) and fantastic defense (8 GGs, 20.6 dWAR) make up for that. As for Andruw, he's probably one of the greatest fielders in baseball history regardless of position and while he wasn't an amazing hitter, his offense was still good for CF.

Rolen has a lower WAR than both Trammell and Whitaker the longest serving double play duo ever!!! 1st they get in.

Rolen is often mentioned as the 2nd greatest defensive 3B of all time (all Giants fans will forever remember his defense, btw). And his BBRef WAR is 70 vs Robinson’s 78.

I missed the comparisons of Trammel or Whitaker to the greatest defensive middle infielders ever.

FTR, I tend to be pro-Trammell and I am not settled on Rolen yet.

Could be the same year, they are both eligible for the Veteran's Committee

Chipper is a definite.

Thome is a maybe.

Andruw was great for a few years, and a joy to watch, but maybe not a 1st ballot HoF.

Is this what you think will happen or what should happen?

Probably think.

While living in Atlanta, I grew up a White Sox fan, so after 2005 baseball as I know it stopped. Frank Thomas's HoF speech is the last major baseball event that I really got excited about.

But also, living in Atlanta, the Jones's were fantastic in the day, and Chip may be one of the best at his position when you think about switch hitting as well.

Chipper is top 5 at his position all time and I don't think there is any doubt that he's a HOFer. I think Thome is in pretty easily as well this year.

His overall career is very comparable to Willie McCovey, who was obviously a 1st ballot. I think Thome was pretty underrated during his career, likely due to the teams/markets he spend much of his career in.

Not to mention, if your criteria is you have to look at a guy and say "there goes the best there ever was" they should just shut down the Hall

Manny

Rolen

I'd also vote for Andruw Jones and Vlad, but I would put the 10 players above in before them. I'm not big on relievers being in the HOF and I don't think Hoffman stacks up to Rivera at all, especially when you account for postseason performance (Rivera had a sub-1 ERA and 0.76 WHIP in the postseason... in 141 innings!). Sheffield falls just short in my book. Great hitter, but he's probably one of the worst defensive players of all-time. Manny was a bad defender, but he was also a much better hitter than Sheff was. Kent's borderline IMO, but I wouldn't argue with him being put in on the basis of him being one of the greatest hitting 2nd basemen of all-time.

Santana

Sosa

I didn't want to put sosa on my list, but if I didn't I would have been a hypocrite with Bonds and Clemens on it meaning Steroids is fine, and then Thome was on it which means 600 HRs has to be a milestone...

Walker's stats are clear HOF player... but he played for the rockies... But don't we have to allow some rockies in the HOF?? I mean they are a major league team...

Curt Schilling, even though I hate him, he will always be on my HOF lists... His post season numbers are one of the best ever... that is to add to his border line HOF regular season career...

Santana is on my list because he is a 2 time CY and he was just the best lefty pitcher of his time... the best... and we need to lower our pitching standards since it will be very rare for a pitcher to be successful and have longevity...

Billy wagner is on my list because he might just be the best lefty reliever of all time...

Notable omissions- Trevor Hoffman, Vlad Guerrero, Mike Mussina, Gary Sheffield, Scott Rolen
