Thrilled the Broncos drafted Jewell.

Should be a fun year.

Might have to rely on the pass more this year then years past with Stanley's arm. Our run game wilk be ok with Young and Kelly-Martin but not as good as years past. Kelly-Martin will really be the X factor. Young reminds me of Albert Young.

Brandon Smith and Smith-Marsette will look to step up. Golden opportunity with them. We know what Fant can do.

I'm pretty excited for the season. Low expectations usually parlay into a good season, but lots of holes to plug.

Low expectations and a soft schedule is a weird combination in that they don't usually happen at the same time. I think the running game will be fine. Line play on both sides will carry the team for a bit. I'm excited to Jones at MLB. Those are big shoes to fill but I think that he's capable.

My brother from Ankeny spent the week with me here in Colorado and he said he feels the Hawks will have a decent season as well. It hinges on how Stanley progresses. Sounds like people are excited Brian Ferentz's attitude.

I agree completely. It's not really like the guy did anything wrong. Why the Frick cops try to make everyone seem like a criminal is exactly why people hate cops.

Give the dude a break.

Yeah. Total bullshit. It doesn't say he was being disobedient, making a scene, threatening anyone, etc.

The hotlink is from the Cedar Rapids Gazette.

I assume "UI Police" is campus police?

Is downtown Iowa City on campus?

The IC cops are notorious for being dickheads, but it looks like it was the U of I police that arrested him for public intoxication. In my experience, most university cops don't show much patience with students either.

Downtown Iowa City is on the east side of the Iowa River, campus is on the west.

I wonder if the IC cops called the UI cops once they found out he was a student?
Do UI cops have jurisdiction to be policing downtown?

Actually, the UI cop shop is on the east side of the river. Quite a bit of campus over there. They're still dickheads..

As a former student at Iowa the U of I police are big time dicks.

Brady Reiff's older brother Riley (Lions) OT was also arrested his FR year for something similar. He was running around town drunk with swinging his shirt around.

Next up is Iowa @ Minnesota 2:30 on BTN. After giving the game to Becky and then having 2 weeks to think aboot it, Iowa SHOULD be pretty motivated Saturday.

I honestly don't know much aboot the Goofers other that I think they are slim at QB.

I had originally pegged this as win thinking Iowa losing their starting LB's would take a slight step back on defense and being a home game

We start true freshman walk on QB. He's looked ok at times, but is a bit erratic at times. Our Wr's are much improved from last year. We lost our best offensive player already for season (rodney smith) and our best defensive player (Antoine Williams Jr)

Our OL is poor in pass protection and not much better in run game. Our defense looked good in non conference and got shredded by Maryland.

I think Iowa's front 7 will dominate our offense and we wont be able to stop Iowa's power run.

Sadly I think Iowa keeps the pig another year, but I'll be at the game

So after the Penn St game I was pretty harsh on Nate Stanley. He did have a less than terrible game and has had a tendency to be a pants pooper in big moments, but I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and see how he bounces back at Purdue this weekend.

He's barely 21 and deserves a bit of encouragement instead of bashing. Come on Nathan Stanley! Bounce back and throw the stinky cheese at those Purdue Turd-chasers!
