that's very disappointing even though I hate the Rays. They could still have 3 very solid pitchers in Archer/Faria/Snell, but I can't see them being good enough to make up for that offense.

Snell has to do something about that walk rate. Great stuff, but his command is terrible. When he was K'ing 12 per 9 in the minors it wasn't a big deal. Can't get away with that in the bigs for long.

Watched Toronto's 1st spring training game today. Good sign that Granderson hit a HR in his first at bat with the team.

yeah, though he did bring it down from 5.2 in 2016 to 4.1 in 2017. He did have 19 walks over his final 61 innings in August/September FWIW and showed much better command in the first half than second (34 walks in 52 pre-ASB innings, 25 in 77.1 innings after the ASB). I could see him having a good year.

Problem is his K rate declined at about the same rate as his BB rate. Tough division to be a nibbler in.

Speaking of the Rays, looks like they're about to come into some cash:

The Rays are entering the final year of their current deal on Fox Sports Sun. The team is due to receive close to $35 million this season, the last one under that deal, sources said.

Fox’s payout is expected to increase to around $50 million in 2019 under the new contract. Over the 15-year life of the deal, which would run through the 2033 season, Fox would pay, on average, around $82 million per year, sources said.

Complicating matters is the fact that 21st Century Fox is selling the Fox Sports RSN group to Disney as part of a $52.4 billion deal that includes the company’s entertainment assets. The deal has to be approved by regulators before the sale can go through.

J.D. Martinez is officially a Red Sox, very good pickup for them.

his strikeout rate was higher in the 2nd half. He went from a 7.8 K/9 in the 1st half to 8.6 to go along with a respectable 2.9 BB/9. His K-BB% went from 4.7% in the 1st half to 15.7% in the 2nd half.

Just glanced at his splits. What struck me the most were his home and away #s. He was flat dominant in the Trop.

Nope. Still blocked. I think it's my job, but really weird how I was able to post in there no problem the 1st day, but not since.
