fuck the NFL and the whole display they put on for the Super Bowl. Makes it run too late and if the Eagles aren't in it, I really don't care all that much.

I was joking about you not being a real fan. Point was even if it is the title game in a sport, you're probably not watching after a while if it isn't a competitive game unless it is your favorite team or player playing. Sorry but you're not going to catch me watching the 3rd set of match after Fed dominated the first 2 sets. If it was like the semi finals where he won the first 2 sets in a TB then I would have watched the 3rd set

I don't know who this Cezero dude is you are talking about or where this whole "not a fan" talk is even coming from. Also, I really don't care.

Federer has lost a lot of hair at the front. Let's see, he is 36 with tons of pressure on the tour, and probably at home with four kids, but let's just ignore all of that and jump right in on the steroid/performance enhancer use talk, shall we?

the atp drug policy is ridiculously stringent and punitive. it would be hard to believe federer would go that route at this stage, after all hes accomplished. federer has just regained his mental toughness, has superior skill, while other top players have faltered..

Well I will give him the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. Although the fact that he made such a miraculous recovery from surgery at his age will raise some eyebrows. Steroids are commonly used as a healing agent after surgery.

medical procedures have no doubt improved.

underwent knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus earlier this year after injuring himself giving his kids a bath.

you kind of wonder how serious this actually was. it appears he could have played on it, but chose the longer term solution.

That's like saying someone isn't a football fan because they didn't watch the 4th quarter of the Seahawks/Broncos superbowl. The match was already decided and Cilic wasn't competitive at all. Not going to waste my time and watch another boring 3rd set when I knew the end result.
congrats

i agree that both the rg and wimbledon finals were boring.

cilic pretty clearly dealing with an injury.

as a tennis and golf fan, i'll watch GOATs win slams/majors even if they're ahead by 10 strokes with 3 holes left on sunday, or by 2 sets and 2 breaks in the final. it's different for team sports for me.

to each their own, though.

meh, very few women have big serves. she needs to stay dedicated week in and week out. she has really slimmed down since beating serena at the french last year.

I didn't like watching Muguruza during the 2015 FO Finals.

I liked watching her more in this Finals. But it was partly aided by Venus hitting too many balls out in the 2nd set.

it looks like a good thing in her case. ivanovich did appear too lose some power though.

The difference between Ivanovic and fellow up and comer Jankovic, back in those days, was that Ivanovic had a little more power on her forehand.

If her loss of power helped diminish her game, then I guess that explains her descent.

that said, both finals had my full attention. I did not read a book while watching or anything, besides my gf sitting beside me asking what trim I liked best for our bathroom remodel. I also snuck off and made breakfast during the second set of the Ladies' Final.

What happened first, did you finish making breakfast, or did the 2nd set end first? :(

It's definitely easier to watch on Pacific Time.

I could get into the RG final a little more, because I thought Wawrinka handled Nadal's ground strokes better than most opponents. Wawrinka's problem was that he couldn't force break points, so then it was too much pressure to hold on every one of his service games.

With the Wimbledon Finals, after it seemed that Cilic was injured, then it wasn't fun because he couldn't move laterally. And he was serving so terribly, something he was supposed to be good at.

I still like watching the trophy ceremonies during these majors, though. Just to give both Finalists their concluding moments.

i think her problems were more between the ears. hard to explain the underachievement and decline of so many on the wta.

mugu is not great, just consistent and fast, and obviously unafraid to play on the big stage. venus may have been a little dinged up in the final. getting there is one thing, getting there healthy is another.

Its called being 37. Even 6 matches in 12 days at that age is a problem. Surprised she even made the final. Usually need more than 1 days rest between matches when you get older. She did better than expected.

Yeah I wasn't expecting her to make the finals at all.

well roger is 35, played 3 out of 5 set matches, and rolled in the final. so i imagine it is doable.
