Naturally, today Blach gets stretched out (6 IP) and does pretty well. He has 2 walks in 26 innings this Spring. Also Gearrin pitched the 2nd night in a row, and had a perfect inning with 2 K's after having a perfect inning last night with 1 K. Neil Ramirez pitched and looked bad, facing 3 batters he walked 2.

So who the heck knows?

One more thing, Hwang basically said he is 100% okay with going to the minors, if anything would like to so he can work on some things.

I wonder if that game killed Ramirez' chances at making the OP roster.

Meanwhile, Tomlinson started at short and went 1 for 3 (with 2 Ks) while Hill got the afternoon off.

Tomlinson - .279/.347/.395
Hill - .209/.277/.302

as much as i appreciate what cain has brought to the organization (and i was in the stands for his perfecto), i just cannot see anything he's done in the last few year through spring training this year to justify a lock. at best you'll get maybe 5 innings out of him and likely turn the game over to the bully hoping for a come-from-behinder.

it'll be tough to win the west with the cain we are seeing. better hope for a very consistent samardzija

It's not either/or. Cain won't affect whether we win the West, because he will get 4-5 starts where he obviously will not be effective, and then the org can let him go with a clear conscience and he will be fine with it.

We need a consistent Samardzija, totally separate from Cain's Awful April coming to a theater near you. It helps that Shark is really our 4th starter. I know he's getting paid like a 2/3 but that's not what matters on the field.

Actually, Kelby has been playing LF this Spring. Mostly in minor league camp I believe.

The impression I'm getting is it seems to be down to Hwang vs. Marrero and Kelby vs. Hill.

Then in the Pen seems like it's Blach vs. Osich and Gearrin vs. Ramirez.

Cain, Gorkys and Parker seem to be locked in.
I get the strong sense that Hill, Blach, and Gearrin have spots. Morerro v Hwangster is a tight on tho

Giants play 26 of 28 against the NL West in April. Cain will have an affect on the race.

Nah. There's 162 games, we may go 1-3 when he pitches. It's fine.

Hill's 3 hit day probably cemented his roster spot, never mind that his OPS is still 40 points lower than Tomlinson's.

Hwang with 15 RBI's leads the team, and Park with 13 is second. Marrero is third with 11.

Hill 3-4 today, raising his average to .255

Gorkys with 3 doubles today, now hitting .204

Herk raised his average to .149 today!

I get a lot of answers about Hwang on twitter when I ask the beat writers, but it's like a plague whenever I ask about Kelby.

don't understand, what do you mean 'like a plague'?

also.... assuming kt does not make the team (initially)... who will take the role of pinch runner? with blanco and even pagan gone that could be an issue. i know nothing about hwang's base running skills. maybe samardzija?

I mean that they take questions regarding Hwang and Hill and the OF and the bullpen, but for whatever reason whenever Kelby is brought up there's no answer. They just avoid it.

That is just weird. Does the guy have an abrasive personality that is working against him with both the team and the media?

I seem to remember something like that was mentioned a couple years back. It may have just been one of us proposing the possibility, though...

I don't think it's that bad thankfully, I think they just kinda forget about him. Or they are so bought into Aaron Hill that Kelby isn't registering for them. IDK

Wasn't that Gary Brown?
We definitely had THOSE discussions, but that was based on reports from some of the beats. I suspect that it the KT talk DID just come from us, maybe we were just sensitive to that possibility because of Brown.

Neil Ramirez said to the Giants "have a spot for me on the roster, or I'm opting out tomorrow".

Your move, Gigantes. He's been pretty lights out this Spring.

Also, looks like the Giants are going to roll with Belt-Pence-Posey-Crawford as the 2-3-4-5 hitters pretty consistently.

belt will look pretty bad in the 2 hole when he goes on one of his prolonged slumps. posey couldn't reach or layoff low and outside the last 1/2 of 16. hopefully he fixes that or well see a lot of opposite field pushes at cleanup
