O's now have 3 catchers on the roster. Pena is out of options so maybe their trying to find a deal for him?
The exact figure is 5.06 over the past 7 days before tonight's game, versus 4.07 for the entire 2017 season so far.
I think that this is a game that neither team seems to want to win as they both are trying to give it to the other.
Is this pitching staff just rejecting McDowell's pitching philosophy, just that bad with or without Britton, or both? For extra irony, Asher will probably be sent down after this game due to having pitched for 2.2 innings even though he should probably be taking Gausman's rotation spot instead (based on recent performance).

I'll go with option C. Figure it's usually option B but going with C just because of Britton being gone.Entire 2017 season so far: 4.07 ERA, 4.47 FIP; 0.298 BABIP; 1.16 HR/9, 11.7% HR/FB; soft / medium / hard contact = 23.5% / 46.4% / 30.1%
Last 7 days: 5.28 ERA, 5.30 FIP; 0.338 BABIP; 1.83 HR/9, 18.4 HR/FB; soft / medium / hard contact = 23.9% / 40.9% / 35.2%
Conclusion: "They're extremely unlucky, or overworked, or both."
Looks like the offense wants to go to the hotel, but the pitching refuses to do so.
I think a good part of the problem is starting pitchers not going deep into games. Miley pretty much never makes it past 5 innings. Jimenez and Guasman get shelled and only last a couple innings. Tillman not stretched out yet.
I think they need to shorten the bench and carry more pitchers. Why not bring up Tyler Wilson to take Guasmans or Jimenez spot in the rotation. We have 3 catchers on the team right now. I bet they are looking for a trade for Pena.
Right now, I'd rank this team's rotation as follows:
#1 Bundy
#2 Miley (we're starting to see some regression to the mean this month, but he's still serviceable)
#3 Tillman (insufficient data)
#4 Gausman
#5 Jimenez (2.35 HR/9... enough said)
If it were up to me, I'd make the following tweaks:
* Move Gausman to the bullpen temporarily and give Alec Asher the #4 spot, effective immediately
* DFA Jimenez (pay another team to take him if necessary), then give his roster spot to a reliever and use the Norfolk shuttle to cover the #5 spot as needed.
This would be the perfect time to use Vance Worley as a starter if he re-signed him.Bundy may be on a inning limit too so I don't know how long we can count on him. Miley is coming back down to earth and can't pitch more than 5 innings because he throws so many balls. Tillman hopefully can pitch like last year. #4 and #5 need to change. They both get lit up leaving the bullpen to be used up. Asher should get a chance to start and even Tyler Wilson. Gausman has a option so you can send him to AAA and use someone else in the pen or put Jimenez there.
