Yeah, the Celtics/Wizards was fun because it went 7. But it was a lot of bad basketball.

Who'd have thought that, outside of that one, the Cavs sweep of the Pacers would be the most competitive series. lol

We all agree the Wiz/Celts are not nearly as good as Cleveland and GS. Those 2 are clearly the best teams and I can see why people enjoy watching them. But can anyone say these two series going on now were as entertaining as the Wiz/Celtics series? I'll take a close, competitive series that is ugly at times over watching greatness absolutely destroy an overmatched opponent every time.

Last years WCF and finals is a perfect example of this...who saw the Warriors coming back from down 3-1 to win the WCF and then turning around and blowing a 3-1 lead to lose the finals?

Has that ever even happened before?

The Cavs may also be among them. We at least know Lebron will be part of that conversation.

Hater. :dhd:

LOL.

Honestly though, it wasn't even about the Lakers. I liked the Kings' style, I enjoyed the jailblazers (not sure why) and I have always appreciated the Duncan Spurs.

I also remember rooting for the 6ers even though I knew they had no chance. Watching AI go nuts was always fun. I still think though, that 6ers team might be the weakest NBA Finalist in the modern era. Either them or the Knicks squad that made it as an 8 seed.

Assuming the Cavs and Warriors both sweep which would mean the conference finals will be done by Tuesday night. Any chance we can start the finals next Sunday instead of Tuesday?

I wish, but no way the NBA will change those dates. These aren't TNT/ESPN games... the Finals are on ABC. Those dates are chiseled in stone.

If they do both sweep, its gonna be like the week before the superbowl... so much time to hype and over analyze everything.

So we're going to go a full week without basketball it seems

And the NBA finals schedule is once again a joke. If it goes 7 then the 2 teams will have 2 days off 4 different times. That is just stupid.

2017 NBA FINALS SCHEDULE

Thursday June 1, Game 1 at West champion, 9 p.m. ABC

Sunday, June 4, Game 2 at West champion, 8 p.m. ABC

Wednesday June 7, Game 3 at East champion, 9 p.m. ABC

Friday, June 9, Game 4 at East champion, 9 p.m. ABC

Monday June 12, Game 5 at West champion*, 9 p.m. ABC

Thursday, June 15, Game 6 at East champion*, 9 p.m. ABC

Sunday, June 18, Game 7 at West champion*, 8 p.m. ABC

I wonder what an NBA scheduler salary is. I'd like to have that job. I'm sure I'd perform better as opposed to the person in their current capacity.

I hate to beat a dead horse but you guys really have interest in the games in this round after 5 straight blowouts, Isaiah's injury and absolutely zero doubt who will win? Really? That is just crazy to me.

Interest? I did until about midweek.

Only mild now. I might not even watch tonight's game.

Its all about cash and scheduling games during the best time slots.

I'm not sure a Friday night is the best slot lol.

IMO the finals schedule should looks like this:

Tuesday May 30, Game 1 at West champion, 9 p.m. ABC

Thursday, June 1, Game 2 at West champion, 9 p.m. ABC

Sunday June 4, Game 3 at East champion, 8 p.m. ABC

Tuesday, June 6, Game 4 at East champion, 9 p.m. ABC

Friday June 9, Game 5 at West champion*, 9 p.m. ABC

Sunday, June 11, Game 6 at East champion*, 8 p.m. ABC

Tuesday, June 13, Game 7 at West champion*, 9 p.m. ABC

The whole giving teams multiple days off between a travel day is extremely dumb IMO. However if you want to go that route then that's fine but please get rid of the 2 days off between games played in the same home. There should never be 2 days between games 1 and 2 or 3 and 4 in the finals

Its all about maximizing profit for the tv network. They want as many games on thursdays, sundays, and mondays as they can get.

Its easy to forget that the networks are the ones essentially funding the league. The revenue from ticket sales and merchandise is peanuts next to the money ABC/ESPN gives the NBA.

Is there any other sport where this happens? People just quit until the finals because it's already known what will happen?

Didn't think so. And the argument that only "casual fan" feel this way is nonsense.

I don't mind multiple days off too much. I mean, ideally I'd like to see a game every other day in the finals, but multiple days gives guys who might get a little dinged up or they tweaked an ankle or knee or something an extra day of treatment. It also gives the older guys an extra day to rest.

I agree that I'd prefer to see the multiple days off only when they are travelling though.

Also, as others have pointed out, the networks likely have as much or more to do with the scheduling as the NBA.

My guess is they feel more people will stay up later to watch on a Friday vs Thursday because most people dont work Saturday morning.

I'm not sure about that. Before last year finals, the games were only played on Tue, Thu, or Sunday. The only reason they even changed this was because LBJ was bitching about traveling after the 2015 finals. If Lebrons didn't complain then we are likely still doing the tue, thu, and sunday format for games

Real fans are going to watch no matter when the game is. Casual fans are more likely to watch on Thursday than Friday because they are more likely to make other plans on Friday since it is a weekend night.

Pretty sure this has been proven in ratings studies.
