15 team, H2H points.
Start:
C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, MI, CI, OF(4), DH(real) OR 2nd C, U(multi-positional eligibility), SP(5), RP(2)
*RP are the rights to said bullpen, i.e. if I draft Kimbrel, I can start him or any RP on Boston, nobody but I can pick up any RP on Boston. I can drop Kimbrel if needed and still retain his rights. (Kimbrel gets hurt, only I can pick up his replacement and I can drop Kimbrel in doing so, until the need for the swap back occurs).... or with the Reds BP, I could start Iglesias one week, seeing he pitched 6 or 7 innings that week, I could drop him and pick up whoever the "closer-B" is (thinking Iglesias will be a Miller type reliever)...etc.
--- anywhooooo ---
I lost in the semi's last year, so I am slotted in at 13th. (we have slot choice so that could change)
What I like to do to start off my strategy is to mock the first round (and as far as I can). Then, I take an overlook at the top 50. (my fourth pick will be pick 48)
I find it's the best way to gauge how I will break a tie between two players at different positions.
Being at the back end, it kind of leaves me out of the elite hitters range, so I don't see how I won't end up going back to back SP.
Long way before the draft, but what better place to hash out some minor details? Top 50.... in no particular order
1B - Goldy, Rizzo, Miggy, Votto, Freeman, Abreu, Myers
2B - Altuve, Turner, Murphy
3B - Arenado, Donaldson, Bryant
SS - Machado, Seager, Correa, XB
OF - Trout, Betts, Harper, Braun, Blackmon, Springer, Cargo, Stanton, Marte, Cutch
DH - Edwin, Cruz, Trumbo
SP - Max, Kershaw, Bum, Thor, Darvish, Kluber, Price, Verlander, Lester, Arrieta, Cueto, Archer, Strasburg, Sale, CarMart, deGrom, Hamels, Carrasco, Felix, Greinke
On the bubble from this list, imo, is Felix and Greinke; and Marte and Cutch.
On the bubble looking in, are Posey and Lucroy, Cano, Dozier, Lindor, JDMart, and a bunch of arms that might not make it back to pick 73.
my first attempt at a mock went like this...
1. Altuve (owner is usually a little off the consensus)
2. Betts (owner took him late first round last year)
3. Arenado (owner took Harper #1 last year, something against Trout?)
4. Donaldson (owner took him 2nd overall last year, didn't disappoint)
5. Trout (about time)
6. Goldy (owner does love to be strong at MI, so maybe I'm off here and he goes SS)
7. Rizzo (getting harder)
8. Machado (SS advantage, owner does have a crush)
9. Bryant (probably a steal here... maybe I'm wrong)
10. Harper (kind of where the value map turns, this spot is wide open!)
11. Turner (likes to make the splash picks... likes his aces too though)
12. Murphy (regression coming, but regression to what?... might go SP here)
13. ME -- (would absolutely take Max Scherzer in this scenario)
....thanks for your time.
