Without even looking much at the schedule. Lions should be somewhere roughly around 8-8.

First off, we have a conservative, mediocre coach.

Offense is mediocre, might be a bit better this year with the O-line additions but I'm not expecting much.

Defense was 13th in points allowed last year, which was overachieving big time. Even though we added pieces in the draft. I can't see them improving too much in that department either.

It took Stafford 8 or 9 comeback wins to even have the record that we had. Is he going to get that many fortunate breaks this season?

Our record at the end of the season should be somewhere between 5-11 and 9-7.

Key points of interest that could swing the season
  • Decker's shoulder injury- Pup or out for the season
  • Abdullah- Talented but could be in the doghouse any minute if he keeps fumbling.
  • If rookies Davis and Tabor prove to be studs or not
  • Ziggy bouncing back
  • If the Lions can avoid injuries- The defense is shockingly devoid of depth, especially at linebacker.

The biggest threat to the Lions is injuries. Front office management seems to be improved over previous regimes. Coaching staff is at least stable. Starting talent is legitimate for the NFL, as long as they are healthy.

I'm more concerned about Decker's injury and its affect on the o-line, seeing that as the most glaring weakness. If the backups/replacements brought in by Bob Quinn pan out then the Lions become contenders in the North. Much like prospecting for gold, though, you have to sift through a lot to find a few nuggets worth keeping.

I've been saying it for years... The Lions are Schedule Fillers and Sandbaggers... Caldwell's job was on the line at the start of last season. Wouldn't you know when they reached the Playoffs the front office comes out and says Caldwell wouldn't be fired. Regular season and the Playoff game was like night and day... from Pro's to overpaid Actors. It sells tickets.

Sandbagger: A person who pads a handicap or acts as if he/she is at a lower skill level than he/she actually is so he/she can achieve better during competition that's handicapped or by skill level.

If ESPN and the NFL Network are doggin' or disrespecting the Lions before the season even starts... it's going to be a long season without reaching the playoffs. I haven't watch either network since the draft, it sucks knowing the script.

I dont see us being better than 9-7 at this point but who knows what team strengths will be with all the moving around players and coaches do every year. If we start 3-3 we have a chance to go 8-2 in those last 10. Most likely we come out 2-4 or 1-5 and only go 6-4 in the last 10.

When the Lions were going to suck, yes... The talking heads aren't going to look totally stupid at the end of the year from giving their season previews. Listen to the so-called experts after the preseason games and before the start of the season of where the Lions will place in the division. If a couple of them don't predict 2nd in the division then all of them will say 3rd or 4th place. It's a heads up on a winning season or not.

I thought so too, found it on the internet... the outside background could use a darker color, IMO. Been thinking about changing it to something else, just haven't put a whole lot of thought into what.
