A 7/8th size F-150 won't be cutting in for the fleet sales. Won't be cheap enough.
Looks like Ford will just let Nissan and Toyota have/take that market.

Not sure why Ford just doesn't make a small pickup and then bring back the old F-100.
I bought a new 2006 F-150 STX which is really an F-100 with basic stuff/no power windows door locks, no carpet, 4.2 engine, with automatic tilt and cruise, that's it. It's bullet proof.

Wonder why it's taken Ford so long to bring the Sport Trac back.
Weird.

Yeah
Maybe Ford should just stop this huge long lead in with the Ranger and just give it to us already.
Not that impressed with it. Looks nice, nothing else.

I think that given it's gonna be released first quarter of 2019, the first year is gonna be a 'short run' - a trial of some sorts. Get as much feedback from potential buyers. They only introduced 1 engine, and even though that 2.3 would be the motor of choice for me, I can't believe it's the only one they'll offer when they roll into showrooms.

Of the mid-sizers, it's definitely the best looking one - the GM twins look awkward. I like the interior as well, very simply and clean, but that tells me that Ford is doing their best to limit what they will offer in this truck to keep F150 buyers spending on the big brother.

If I get a truck of this size, it'll definitely be this Ranger. I wish they'd offer the 2-speed transfer case, but you can only get that in a Lariat 150 and up...and I ain't dropping that kinda cash for a vehicle anymore.

2 spd transfer...

All F-150s are offered with a 2 speed transfer case, regardless of trim.

I have yet to see a picture of the regular 2 door model.
Are they afraid to show it.

Ford just needs to stop with the huge lead in time.
That thing still looks like the Sport Trac that they discontinued.
No thought put into it at all.
Ford doesn't offer a 6cyl. for it either.

I don't understand this at all.
Unless their future lineups of engine choices included a small diesel and 6 cylinder and 8 cylinders.
Seems logical. They just need to make it happen, this lead in time is crazy. Its working against them.

I can see why people would want a 6 cylinder....personally I wouldn't, given what the 2.3 ecoboost can do. I also remember when Ford brought the 3.5 EB 6 cyl. for the F150....and people went insane over it. Fast forward, and it's been a monumental success.

I DO think they need to offer more than one engine however.

I was hoping Ford would make the new Ranger something like the new GMC Canyon or even the old Dodge Dakota. A longer box and an option for a 6cyl. Something useful.
