I see a surprise 4-8 , 5-7 season. No receivers and judging by the scrimmage no passers either. Wadley is minuscule behind an overrated line.

The OL isn't overrated, it will be even better then last year.. We got some REALLY good young OG's with James Daniels returning and the best strength and condition coach on the planet.

Agree- our WR's suck, but they have for about 20 years now... We will be decent not great because we will run the ball well and play decent D. Pass rush will improve some. We got some things going for us with young LB's and DB's too. Probably a boring team like always but we will have some success at least. Watch out for Noah Fant.

Typical 8-4 or 7-5 season. Losses include PSU, @MSU, OSU, @Wis, @NE I wouldn't be surprised to win any one of those games, but if we do, we'll more than likely lose to a Purdue or Illinois...

Anything better than 8-4 gets us our annual obligatory blow-out bowl game loss.

Welcome! There used to be some good discussions on here when the cbs forum first closed down, but most of those guys bailed out. There are a handful of Hawkeye posters here, but not much happens in the Hawkeye page lately.

so what will be the biggest difference we see this year in play calling with brian calling them? I think we will see tight ends alot more in the equation. also I dont see so many short passing plays I think I will be more play action deep in's and out's. (hello jailbreak maybe)

Hopefully you're right about the offense, but I'll believe it when I see it. I think Kirk has to give his stamp of approval for the play-calling, but he might loosen it up with the kid running it.

This is great news for a team that's so weak at WR! Thanks for the update.

I've been following this team for almost 4 decades and I don't recall us going after grad transfers. New tactic for Iowa? I didn't realize we had available scholarships for these guys.

RB James Butler from Nevada
WR Matt Quarells from NM

We have available scholarships because we have had players leave since recruiting day.

Butler is a stud. Qualles looks like he has good tools on tape but never seen him in person. Butler and Wadley may both get 20 carries a game, we are desperate at WR so we are going to run the ball into the ground.

TE's more involved? How much more involved can the TE's be since the Greg Davis era?

Noah Fant just might be the next big thing at TE.

i am in love with hockenson at TE as well. (all time leading reciever in iowa high school history) I am in total agreement w/ everything you have said. interesting how GD listed 3 WR & 1 TE on his 2 deeps where as BF lists 2 WR AND 2 TE, kind of lets you know where his head is

Yeah- No doubt about that.

Curious where in Iowa are you guys from? I am in Iowa City. Go to every home game and a few road games.
