2017 ACC/B1G Challenge

Games should be announced this week according to what Richard Pitino said during his press conference today. One major note. Duke vs. Michigan State would be an obvious game, but they play each other this year in the Champions Classic so they can't in this event.

My guess is that the organizers will do one of two things a) give Michigan a 2nd home game in a row(like Duke last year) and Duke will play AT Michigan or b) Michigan will play AT UNC since they're do a home game this year.

These are the teams that should receive home games this year(based off playing road games last year)

Minnesota
Iowa
Michigan State
Purdue
Rutgers
Nebraska
Ohio State

IF scenario "B" plays out above and Purdue loses Swanigan to the NBA that could set up a match up of Duke vs. Minnesota. Would be the biggest OOC game at the Barn since I became a fan 20 years ago(or at least that I can recollect).

Only leak I know is the gophers are supposedly hosting a "huge" opponent.

Truthfully only UNC and Duke really fit.

Some more rumors floating around that the Gophers will be hosting Duke. Nothing confirmed yet, but as they say where there's smoke, there's fire. With that said, I'm still not getting my hopes up.

So, Indiana coming off an awful season, gets back to back home games in the challenge and is rewarded with Duke coming to town. What a fucking joke.

No Pittsburgh this year, not surprised because I'm not sure they'll be able to field a starting 5. Iowa gets fucked at Indiana's disposal for having to play back to back road games.

I wouldn't mind it if they scrapped the entire challenge. Won't happen, but I wouldn't mind it if it did.

Wake draws Illinois at home. Pretty sure Illinois is losing 3 starters from an NIT team. Still not sure what to expect from Wake next year since Collins is gone. If Wake can get decent production from just one of its bigs, I think they'll be a surprise team (again).

This slate is absolute garbage. If they're going to do a rematch of Louisville/Purdue, why not Northwestern and Wake Forest? This challenge is penalizing two teams who made the tournament last year by giving them a lesser opponent. And even more so for Wake because they get a home game. At least NW has the chance for true road win. I get that the Champions Classic(Duke vs. MSU) and the Crossroads Classic(Purdue vs. ND), killed some potential games, but what ESPN came up with is just utter garbage.

could there not have been a more "even" matchup for either school. I suppose FSU isnt going to be near as good as they were last year. Theyll still kill Rutgers though.

This whole challenge is fucked up because the team that finished 10th in the B1G last year is playing Duke. To answer your question, I'm not sure why BC isn't playing Rutgers, both finished last in their respective leagues last year. Also, since Indiana was gifted a home game, it meant 4 out of the 5 worst teams in the B1G last year are playing at home. There's gonna be an imbalance because of that. Sucks for FSU.
