Luke got the highest praise from Popovich who I have tremendous respect for. I don't think he would say things he doesn't mean - The Lakers team has rookies and part of the process is learning to be consistent. They can change coaches every year, but the players are not going to get better doing that - Just takes time.

Some of his substitution patterns are a bit suspect.

But, unless his coaching philosophy revolves around missing half your free throws and 2/3 of your 3 pointers and Julius Randle going 1 on 4 instead of kicking the Ball to the open man, I agree.

Substitution pattern as a new coach doesn't bother me. Spo had that issue for at least 5 years. Probably more.

But yeah it is a shit roster at the moment that really isn't capable of winning more than 28-32 games until they make the necessary improvements.

Hard to even judge a coach at this point until he get more talent.
