The Chiefs tie up Portland with 30 seconds left in game 5 and win it in OT. It's the third straight playoff series the Chiefs have trailed 3-1 and won game 5 on the road. Maybe they can finally win game 6 as well?

My Spitfires were put out today. No upsets at all in the first round in the OHL.

WHL has had several upsets so far and Moose Jaw and Swift Current (top two teams in the regular season in terms of points) have both been pushed to game 7. I kinda hope Regina beats Swift Current just because I'm sick of seeing Memorial Cup hosts losing so early in the playoffs. The MJ/PA game will be interesting, especially if the Raiders get an early goal or two.

Have I said how stupid the WHL playoff setup is? They use the same model as the NHL and I hate it. Moose Jaw and Swift Current (recall top 2 in the league in points) play in the next round if they both win. Dumb.

The Regina Pats get eliminated in round 1 of the WHL playoffs and can now sit back for 6 weeks until they host the Memorial Cup. It's well past time to do away with the host team having an automatic bid, junior hockey is big enough in Canada and the States that enough people will travel to see the games without the host team being in the mix.

I think the best setup would be a double round robin with a best of 3 between the top 2 teams. Keeps the tournament at 8-9 games, which should keep sponsors happy.
