Oh boy...

Maxwell alleged that during his time with the Everett Silvertips, where he played from 2008-09 until 2011-12, he suffered a broken kneecap when he was hit during a game by a slap shot. Maxwell testified that he was refused X-rays after the injury, insulted by a team trainer and then forced to play on the broken bone for seven games.

“I was still scoring so they didn’t care what shape I was in,” he said.

When he finally left a team practice early and demanded to see a doctor, Maxwell testified that X-rays showed a break.

“The doctor couldn’t believe I was skating on it,” he said.

Then, Maxwell said, “They rushed me back to playing after four weeks and little therapy so I could play in the playoffs.”

Maxwell, who scored 116 regular-season and playoff goals over three-plus seasons with Everett, criticized the WHL’s commitment to player education.

“Teachers would say, ‘Score two goals and I’ll give you an A. Give me a signed puck and I’ll give you an A,’” he said. “I got Scholastic Player of the Year [for the 2008-09 season] and I took three courses my senior year.”

Maxwell disputed the WHL’s assertion that it is an amateur league.

“People bought my jerseys, bobbleheads, autographed photos of me in our team store. Two months ago, I had to buy my son a jersey for $150 with my own name on it with no discount… It is not an amateur league. We should be compensated.”

Canadian NHL Team Prospect of the Week: Michael DiPietro

Vancouver Canucks prospect is polishing his case to be OHL goaltender of the year on a team that can finish no higher than sixth after getting his league-high seventh shutout with a 20-save clean sheet against the Saginaw Spirit.

DiPietro, who is maintaining a 2.74 average and .912 save percentage on a rebuilding team, is also one shutout away from tying the OHL career shutout record of 16. While DiPietro still has another season in the OHL, record-holder Tom McCollum set the standard with Guelph and Brampton across three seasons (2006–09), so DiPietro will need to squeeze out another shutout in the next two weeks to satisfy statistical purists.

I would 100% trip over my stick and end up on my face in the corner if I tried that in traffic.

I was at that game on the Jensen jersey. Officals missed Alot but we should have capitalized on our opprotunitys like that 5 minute power play.

We didn't.

Nice game @puckhead

PS. You guys might have something in Miner

Medicine Hat was the only team to hold serve on home ice in the first round. Good stuff.

Edit: I guess Lethbridge did too. Whatever, still good stuff lol

WHL hires retired RCMP officer to probe claims of abuse, exploitation - Article - TSN

“Teachers would say, ‘Score two goals and I’ll give you an A. Give me a signed puck and I’ll give you an A,’” he said. “I got Scholastic Player of the Year [for the 2008-09 season] and I took three courses my senior year.”

Maxwell provided TSN with a copy of his transcript that shows he took two courses in term one of Grade 12. He received a B in English and a C- in Algebra. In term two, Maxwell took one course, Government, and received an A-.
