Red Sox starting pitchers since the ASB:
3.85 ERA (13th in MLB)
133.1 IP (1st in MLB)
3.64 FIP (8th)
4.16 xFIP (13th)
2.8 WAR (3rd)
4.23 SIERA (14th)

Rotation has been pretty solid as of late. Eduardo Rodriguez has had some very encouraging starts. Price's ERA should only continue to come down, his FIP/xFIP still rank among the best pitchers in the league. Price actually has a 3.38 ERA over his last 16 starts (since Pedroia "fixed" Price).

No, they're not the 1998 Braves. But we don't need them to be that good. Sox did just fine in 2013 with them getting 82 starts from Doubront/Dempster/Peavy/Workman/Webster/Aceves.

With the offense we have, I think the starting pitching gives this team a real chance in the postseason. Of course, getting to the postseason is another matter.

Since the ASB, Red Sox starting pitchers have the best ERA in the AL (3.44). Only rotation with a better ERA is the Cubs. Red Sox starters lead the league in FIP (3.67), innings pitched (327.1 in 52 starts; averaging almost 6 1/3 per start) and WAR (6.9; Nats and Mets are 2nd at 5.4). They've also done a good job cutting down on the home runs (1.32 HR/9 in the first half; 0.96 since ASB (4th best)).

Sox have been getting some very good pitching from Price, Porcello and even Rodriguez. Pomeranz has been pretty effective in the back end of the rotation with a 3.97 ERA. And even Buchholz has done a good job stepping up while Wright's been hurt.

Entering tonight, Red Sox pitchers had a 3.53 ERA and 1.182 WHIP since Brian Bannister joined the coaching staff on July 5. Prior to that, they had a collective 4.48 ERA and 1.349 WHIP.

WTF Kimbrel? Clay finally pitches a gem. Kimbrel loads the bases. Kelly looks like he may salvage a win and boom a GS to center field. This friggen Heckle and Jeckle pitching staff

Kimbrel's been pretty shaky all year. He's faced 4 or more batters in 30 of his 57 appearances. He's never had the sharpest control, but he's especially struggled with walks this year (career high 5.1 BB/9, his career rate is 3.6) and he has his highest WHIP since his short MLB debut in 2010 (1.21 in only 20.2 innings). He was pitching great after coming off the DL up until the last week or two.

I feel a lot better about the bullpen going into the postseason though. Ziegler's been very good since the trade and Uehara has looked sharp since coming off the DL (albeit small sample size). Kelly finally seems to be making the transition to the bullpen (20/3 K/BB, 0.64 ERA in 14 innings). Even Pomeranz looks like he could play an important role in the bullpen, he showed better velocity in his appearance a few days ago.

#1 & #2 pitching BP these first two games. Let's hope the friendly confines of Fenway are a lot nicer? Between the pitching and lack of hitting it's getting hard to watch. Then add in it looks like every bounce has gone Clevelands' way. Not that it would've changed the outcome :gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah:
