A caution happened with 10 to go and they all pitted and then when the restart happened, Carl tried to block Joey but wasn't far enough ahead and got spun out. Then another caution happened after that and then Jimmy got ahead of Larson during the final restart and never looked back.

Kahne runs the most laps in 2016 but leads none: There was 10,523 laps run this year in the NASCAR Premier (Cup) Series. #5-Kasey Kahne led every driver by completing 10,355 laps in 36 points races - and he didn't lead a single one of them! Not one lap led all year long. Next up was #41-Kurt Busch who ran 10,348 laps and set a NASCAR record by completing every single lap in the first 22 races of the season. Busch completed more laps than any other Chase driver this season. #2-Brad Keselowski had the third most laps run at 10,337 followed by #10-Danica Patrick at 10,326 (but no top-ten finishes) and #19-Carl Edwards at 10,303. The 2016 Champion, #48-Jimmie Johnson, was not in the top-ten of laps run (FoxSports)(11-30-2016)

It's funny. Everyone thought that Kahne was going to go to the next level when he went to Hendrick. But surprisingly, he's gone downhill since he's been there and is now the low man on the totem pole. I think a change of scenery would do him some good, just don't know where he'd go right now to redeem himself.

Idk what it is. Obviously, he's getting good stuff. Maybe not what JJ and Chase get, but to run the most laps means you are getting quality equipment. You're right about where could he go. Maybe 2018 when the new JTG ride that Buescher is driving when he leaves to go back to Roush. Hendrick is going to have to find a ride for Bowman soon, and with Byron waiting in the wings.

Agreed that it's not the equipment holding him back. The only big names I could possibly see him possibly landing at would be Roush, Penske or Childress. He could always go back to Petty or another low level team I suppose. :noidea:

Nascar has scheduled a press conference today for 4:45pm. Rumor is that they are going to announce the new title sponsor, speculated to be Monster Energy.

Agreed. It was a bit easier going from Winston Cup to Nextel/Sprint Cup. But Monster Energy Cup just doesn't roll off the tongue as much as the previous ones.

They are removing Cup from the name. It's going to be something like Monster Energy Premier Series are something like that.

I doubt its any time soon. They made a HUGE mistake leaving when they did and its all because Sergio was an idiot, trying to nickel and dime Roger Penske and Penske called his bluff. Now its gonna cost him loads more dollars to get back in than if they would have just ponied up the extra couple mil in support back in 2012. They'd be way behind in both engine and chassis production if they got back in within the next 2 years. Only way its worthwhile for them is if NASCAR levels the playing field by coming up with a new engine and chassis package for all teams to work within. All that takes time.
