Ben Lovejoy (PIT) signs for 3 years 2.66 AAV

Not a bad signing.

Merrill signed dirt cheap which I like, DSP brought back as well, 2 years $1.3 per is real good.

Yeah I don't want to give up on Merrill yet but if he doesn't step up this contract then see ya.

Dsp I wanted to keep since he came on strong here last year. Now just sign Bennet and I'm ready for the season.

I would've loved okoposo here but too much money

Agreed on Okposo. He reminds me of Zajac a lot in that he has the talent to be a great player but the majority of the time just doesn't put it together. Would've been a nice piece but once I saw the years and price, not worth it.

Tell ya what, for 1 year, $2.6 million I would've taken a flyer on Vanek. Worst case scenario, he sucks for Detroit and they let him walk next. Best case scenario he returns to form and scores 20+.

I liked Kalinin. He was an unbelievably versatile player last year, played the wing, played center, played on the PK, held his own in the top 6 when he played there. Great depth player.

Palmieri resigned to a 5 year deal 4.65 AAV. This team is going to be fun to watch....finally. Shero getting it done

What a steal, wow. I thought for sure he'd be getting around $6 million per. Best part is he's locked up through his prime years. Phenomenal deal.

Smart deal for both sides. He can also get that one final rich contract in 5 years if he earns it. Also, nobody wanted arbitration.
My grade jumps to A + on other thread.

Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on Jiri Hudler? 32 years old, a season removed from 31 goals. His career m.o. appears to be 2 mediocre seasons for every really good season.

If the price was right and it's shorter term would you bring him in? Or do you continue with the youth movement/see what Elias has left (my personal opinion is he's finished).

at this stage of our development I'd pass on Hudler. If we were one vet away from cup contention id go for it

I'm not too familiar with Hudler but if he's not someone to take us over the top then i pass... IMO it feels we're a bit crowded with fan favs or prospects in the roster when it comes to offense.

Unless he's someone to make a difference, i'd pass.

Elias must retire as a Devil. Keep him on for my selfish reasoning

hudler if you can get on a cheap like 2 year deal i would take a chance on him for 2 reasons

if he doesn't pan out and this team isn't going anywhere then offer him up at the deadline for a playoff team even for a 2nd/3rd rounder. heck even if he is playing good and we aren't in the playoff race still offer him up.

second i would sign him just for the expansion draft and then leave him unprotected
