2016 MSU Schedule

With the new divisions set MSU will have the pleasure of playing the following teams in 2016 -

Alabama
Notre Dame
UofM
OSU
PSU


plus
Rutgers
Maryland
Eastern Michigan
Indiana

and three teams from the new B1G West division. Why not add Nebraska and Wisconsin just to make it a tough schedule.

Alabama has canceled a planned home-and-home series with Michigan State in 2016 and 2017, the Detroit Free Press reported Thursday.
Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis told the Free Press that Alabama canceled the series "due to uncertainty with the SEC schedule." The SEC has been considering going to a nine-game conference schedule, as the Big Ten will do beginning in 2016.
The Spartans were scheduled to visit Tuscaloosa in 2016, with the Crimson Tide going to East Lansing the following year. Michigan State still has Notre Dame and two mid-level opponents on the schedule each of those years. Alabama now does not have any nonconference opponents contracted for 2016.

Thoughts on 2016 Schedule

Honestly the schedule does no look that bad. The only challenge will be the season opener against Alabama. Also Ohio State will be hard. But we have to play them ever year anyways. This schedule will be a good and challenging one.

Alabama dumped the Michigan State game because of "uncertainty in the SEC schedule" but is now looking for a high profile neutral site game for both years. Why bail on the Michigan State game and then go looking for high profile neutral site games? Sounds like someone didn't want to hear the boos coming back into Spartan Stadium.
