What are everyone's thoughts on Crouse? Seems like theres a comparison to Rick Nash. If that's the case, that's very good! thoughts?

We had some draft talk in the other thread. I don't know about Crouse. Big offensive guy, some question his skating however, doesn't pass very well. Yea he crashes the net, works hard, but that just seems like a higher skilled Matteau and it does not address what this team desperately need.
If they win the lotto, McDavid is a given.

Drafting at 6 or 7, we were throwing out names like Rantanen who was the best or one of the best in juniors tournament. I would prefer Rantanen over Crouse. Big player, but also highly skilled.
This team needs high skill and speed. I threw out a name Mitch Marner. Very highly skilled, fast, can pass, make end to end plays. Thats the type of player I want.

Who is close to being NHL ready? I know it shouldn't be our mindset but not sure we have 4-5 years to develop a guy.

I'll take on anyone with high potential.... size, speed, shot, agility, IQ... everything and anything...

we need a fucking punchers chance to hit a HR here....

but watch we trade it for something hideous or worse, draft a Dman....

Thinking ahead:
League doesn't have superstar offensive producers outside of Ovechkin, scoring is way down, PP opportunities are at an all-time low, and clutch and grab is back almost as bad as it was 15 years ago.

League will probably make changes to improve entertainment/income and easiest way to do this is enforcing the rules that are already in place.

Top players in 2005 were guys who could draw a penalty, either through speed (Gionta), diving (Staal), or puck protection (Thornton, Jagr)

PP specialists and forwards that are fast and play physical will improve pp and give more pp opportunities. Its probably best to avoid players who are soft and don't want to take hits.

You will see them mention size, but the guy isn't small like a Gionta. 5'11'' and at 17 still probably growing.

As for defense, unless there is an Erik Karlsson type of player, I agree, don't draft defense.

You're absolutely right in terms of targeted attributes...

Say we win the lotto. That pushes buffalo to the #2 spot you know how bad they want McDavid and eichel is a legit player. Would you make an offer for a top prospect their #1 this year and next? Figure both teams will be bad next season

Get eichel a top prospect and a pick next year which should be top 10

Hmm, probably not. I wouldn't be upset about it but McDavid seems to be on another level.

I think building down the center is huge in the nhl. We had arnott Gomez madden in 00 01. Madden Gomez newendyk in 03.

Chris Kunitz made team Canada because of Sidney Crosby. Top line center is without a doubt the toughest position to fill.

Was just looking. Landeskog played in the ohl before being drafted. I'm not comparing him to rantenan but This guy rantenan is coming straight from euro. That's a red flag for me.

Well it won't matter, we're drafting McDavid or Eichel.

I dunno I would at least entertain it.

Eichel reinherat a first next year no lotto protected. You could be looking at landing 3 of the top 4 players selected in 2 years time.

Reinherat is a second eichel is a second. Buffalo should suck next year so maybe get the second pick next year.

Eichel Reinhardt down the middle would be insane one two punch and cut the rebuild in no time and would get instantly young over night.


I would instantly if I'm lou pull the trigger and get kessel in here to give them some talent to play with.
