Figured that I'd start this one early since we're officially eliminated from playoff contention with about a week left.

The Orioles have interest in bringing free agent Gerardo Parra back in 2016, Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports. Executive VP of baseball operations Dan Duquette said that the team was looking to keep the outfielder on a long-term when the O’s first acquired himat the trade deadline, and sources tells Connolly that the Orioles’ stance hasn’t changed.

Looks like there's mutual interest there since Parra has said he likes the team, players and fans. Probably can get him for a decent price I'd imagine.

Also found this on MLBTradeRumors: Some teams are already inquiring if Orioles pitching coach Dave Wallace will be available this winter, MASNsports.com’s Roch Kubatko reports. Wallace and the rest of the O’s coaching staff are still without contracts for 2016, though executive VP of baseball operations Dan Duquette recently told Kubatko that the club was in “the process” of getting those deals worked out. The highly-regarded Wallace has been Baltimore’s pitching coach for two seasons and Kubatko speculates that if he were to leave, bullpen coach Dom Chiti could leave as well since the two are good friends.

  • Orioles lefty Brian Matusz will undergo surgery to repair the arthritic AC joint in right (non-throwing) shoulder on Monday, tweets Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun. The injury, Matusz told reporters (link), didn’t impact his performance but did force him to scale back his workouts. Encina notes that Matusz’s hope is that having the surgery immediately after the season will give him enough time to recover and enjoy a normal offseason before getting back into his preseason routine.

I'd probably no-tender Matusz. Made over 3 million this year probably going to get a raise with arbitration.

Adam Jones plans to speak to owner Peter Angelos about the Orioles‘ offseason plans, the outfielder tells the Baltimore Sun’s Dan Connolly. It will be a challenging winter for the O’s with eight free agents, though Jones feels most of them would come back for the right offer since “it’s a great place to play. I know they all like being here.” If some leave, Jones notes that the silver lining is freed-up payroll space. “It’s going to be exciting to see what goes on this offseason because I know when you have a lot of free agents that means you have a lot of money to spend,” Jones said. “And so, hopefully, I can influence some officials to spend a little bit of that money.”

I think that most like money more than they do playing here and will go wherever the money is. Also from MLBTradeRumors:

Two of those free agents say they want to return to the Orioles. Steve Pearce tells Connolly that “I’d love to be back. I’d love for everybody to be back,” while Matt Wieters tells MASNsports.com’s Steve Melewski that he knows this could be his last few days in a Baltimore uniform. “I’m trying to embrace it and enjoy this last bit of the season,” Wieters said. “I’ve been very fortunate being able to to be here as long as I have and would love to stay here. But that is all stuff that will be controlled and talked about in the offseason.”

I don't believe Wieters as much as Pearce. I think Pearce is sincere about wanting to come back since we gave him a legit shot at playing most days. Wieters I think is probably just saying that so he doesn't look like a bad teammate. I don't think anyone thought otherwise that he'd leave as soon as his contract ended here.

I don't want Wieters back. Rather they resign Davis and Parra.

O'Day, Davis and Parra would be the ones I'd like to see back the most. I think that the catchers we have right now put up as good of stats as Wieters does at a fraction of the price Wieters wants, so I agree, it wouldn't matter to me too much if he bolts. I just hope he doesn't finally realize his potential somewhere else like what happened with Jake Arrieta when he was traded to the Cubs.

The Orioles have extended bench coach John Russell’s contract, but have not done the same for their other coaches, and it looks like changes could be afoot. Pitching coach Dave Wallace appears most likely to head elsewhere (and other teams are already inquiring about his availability). Any potential coaching changes could lead to disagreements between GM Dan Duquette and manager Buck Showalter.

Considering what has happened to our starters this year (4.55 ERA / 4.86 if Chen is excluded), I'd welcome the possibility of another team taking our pitching coach...

Agreed let him go. Starting pitching especially Tillman went down hill this year.

Orioles general manager Dan Duquette joined Steve Melewski of MASNsports.com on 105.7 The Fan in Baltimore last night following the conclusion of the regular season and discussed a number of topics pertaining to the Orioles’ offseason. As Mewleski writes in summarizing much of the conversation, Duquette believes fixing the team’s pitching staff is his “No. 1 priority in the offseason.”

While he stressed a need for improvement from members of the pitching staff that will be returning for the 2016 season, Duquette also added, “…we’re also going to need to add pitching depth from outside the organization.”

Mark it down, if the O's do not resign Davis, I am done with this team. I don't give a shit if he wants $100m, you pay the man.

It always seems like when this team needs a few A list free agents, they always find a way to screw up the negotiations and end up somewhere else. As I've said before, they need to resign Parra and another OF (Justin Upton or Cespedes), resign Davis and O'Day and sign David Price so we can finally have our first true Ace since Mussina left. I doubt most of this won't happen but I'd rate it a :thumb: if it did.

I can live with most of those salaries. Tillman from this past season would be overpaid but the Tillman of 2014 would be acceptable.

i would work out a long term deal backloaded for manny . let matusz and ryan both go . i like janish in ryans old role . nolan for a million is really really cheap . if you look at nolan he stayed healthy all year and i bet he was getting stronger day by day ad we go farther from his surgery . gonzo almost 5 million not feeling it he is ropez make a hell've long man . i would love for the o's to move britton to starter and give oday the closer job .

I hope they get rid of Flaherty and get someone to upgrade at that position. Maybe Janish is that guy.
