Just thought I'd open this up to see if anyone checked in over the course of the season.

Good start to the season last night, though I hated the two meanigless touchdowns they gave up late.

The loss to TCU was a tough one to handle, and it was a reminder of how far the Gophers still have to go.

... but then we get teased by games like the one we just won against Michigan.

Yeah that was a really dominating performance by the Gophers, who controlled both sides of the game from beginning to end. Definitely the type of win we needed early in the Big 10 season.

Hopefully, having the bye this week will prevent them from falling into the problems of the past after a "big win." Give them a chance to let it sink in and maybe get a little over the hump.

Guess that Northwestern game doesn't look to be as much of a gimme as it did a couple weeks ago. Hopefully they've been able to relaz after that Michigan game, and take these next 2 at home to really build some momentum for the remainder of the season.

Once Big Ten season starts things can spiral out of control quickly, especially for a team like the Gophers that never have the 'elite' talent needed to lead a team out of a funk. But as you point out, the opposite can be true as well, with the Gophers thinking themselves too big for their britches. Either way I am happy that we had a week off to get healthier for the upcoming 3 game stretch. NW, Purdue and Illinois - all are winnable games but nothing in the Big Ten is a gimme. If we win these three we are in good shape for the final tough four game stretch.

That final 4 could be brutal. Thank goodness the byes are scheduled when they are.

We could (should) be a top 25 team if we win our next three games agaisnt NW, Purdue and Illinois.

And then we could easily drop 4 straight and plummet in the rankings/bowl situation.

Great win yesterday. Almost given to Northwestern by the refs when they extended the drive with the "roughing the passer" call, allowing Northwestern to tie it up. Couple of questionable calls. Kill's staff did a good job keeping the defense composed. Could've gone the other way after that.

Too bad about TCU's loss yesterday, though.

Awesome win. NW is a respectable team so I don't mind one bit that the score was close. Good teams win close games, bad teams don't.

Homecoming ended up ok, but that first half was brutal for the defense.
Second half was all Gophers.

May these last two games have just been nail biters. I wish that the Purdue game would have been a little more of a blowout, because it would have given me more confidence about the level of talent that our team has. What I mean by that is, if we clearly had a more talented team it would be nice to see us just dominate both sides of the ball. But since we don't have that sort of talent, I have to say that there is something nice about consistently winning close games. I don't know if we can continue to do it or not though.

The one thing that should stick out, is that they made the halftime adjustments that were necessary to get the win. They could've given up, but this team didn't. The one thing that is missing (that you're looking for), is more passing. Leidner is still only a sophomore... that will still develop. Let's get the win @ Illinois and go into the bye week focused on that daunting last 4 games.

You make a good point on the second half comeback due to adjustments. That is a sign of good coaching, and a team that believes in its coach.

BIG weekend for both Hoops and Football programs.

Pitino Jr. vs his dad tonight in Puerto Rico tonight.

tOSU @ TCF tomorrow.

Both games should be good indicators of where these programs are headed. I'm not expecting wins in either... but if the games can be kept close, luck might be on our side in both instances.
