Most people don't know this, but the NIT Tournament was once bigger than the NCAA championship. Not sure why, but when all the games were in NYC that sucker could fill the house every night.

Today, picking a winner is basically analyzing which team, rejected by the NCAA, has less of a chip on their shoulder and really wants to win it.

Some teams who were close to a bid to the NCAA will collapse immediately because they hate being here and want the season to end. Then, maybe someone that's good but had no chance to make the big dance, will step up and win.

Just a hunch, but I like Mississippi, Seton Hall and Tennessee.

I don't know much about Savannah St., but I hope the Vols don't take them lightly tonight. I mean, they have to be a pretty decent team to make the NIT Tournament...right? Tennessee has to come out early and set the tone.

This is what I'm hopping Tennessee doesn't do.

Don't think I've ever seen so many 20-win teams in the NIT. It's a respectable tourney this year. Grats to the Viles, go SEC.

I hate it when MTSU and Tennessee play each other. I'm pulling for the Vols, but it will be a bitter sweet victory to me, if they win.

We came out fast against Savannah then we hit a wall and were only up at 2 at one point. I just found out that I'm going to be subbing for a buddy of mine if we make it to the finals on the NY trip!! SO GO VOLS!!!!!!!

Yeah, UT started off great but then slacked off a bit. I'm telling you, they can't do that vs MTSU. They are waaay better than Savannah St. LaRon Dendy (SBC player of the year), Raymond Cintron and Marcos Knight can all play ball. If Stokes or Maymon get into early foul trouble, Dendy will eat UT up inside. And if no one puts a hand in Cintron's face, he will knock the 3's down all night. I give UT a slight edge since it's at TBA, but my gut is telling me MTSU is going to win... :embarassed: :ban:

I'm hoping for a good game. It sucks that one of them will be going home.

I heard the crowd (6k) was very loud and energetic the other night. Some said it was louder than some of the 15-20k games.

It had its moments, I think everybody was surprised just how close the game was. The fans were really freaking out when a dude threw a punch at Skylar McBee and even after they looked at the replay they didn't call anything. After that the crowd was really into it and we started running away with the game a bit too.

It was kinda a disappointing turnout still tho, when they showed the attendance of 6k everybody said "ooohh" was really surprising to have such good turnouts throughout the year and then that. We were even ranked 5th in attendance in all of Basketball this year

Yeah, the attendance was pretty poor. But I read that a lot was due to thousands of season ticket holders who didn't go because they were't guaranteed their seats...Idk. The attendance was still better than most of the other teams that played that night, if it means anything, lol. I know there will be more people for the MTSU game. MTSU will bring a fair amount of their own. Any word on the date and time of the game?
