2006 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5L

I've been thinking of buying a cheap daily driver for a while so I can leave my tundra in the garage most of the time and drive something with better fuel economy. Found a 2006 Jetta with the 2.5L inline 5 cylinder engine with 113,000 miles. It's a nice package with leather seats, and alloy wheels and they're asking $4,300 for it. I'm thinking I can get it for 4K at worst. Anybody got any input on these cars or Volkswagen's in general? I know they can be expensive to have them worked on, but I'm not too worried about that if reliability is on par with what I've heard.

It's an inline 5. They've been around for a long time I think. It's red automatic. I was under the impression that they pretty much ran forever but was wondering if anyone had experience with them.

Supposed to be good cars from what I understand. My 2010 Canyon actually has an inline 5 cylinder (3.7L).

Maintenance is more and fixing any big issues is way more. I'm always skeptical on buying older impiets even at a great price because you'll likely end up spending far more on upkeep than you would on a domestic. I'd spend 4k on a Focus long before I spent 4k on a Jetta but that's just me
