Eye stopped listening to hip pop back in 2006 with the auto tune and never recovered rip

Hip Hop is experiencing a golden age not seen since the early to mid 90's.

I feel bad for you.

Kendrick Lamar is the chosen one.

Section 80, Good Kid M.A.A.D City, and then a complete masterpiece To Pimp A Butterfly. He's it.

Houston had a station called boom 92. All old school hip hop. I had never turned off that station. They took it off the air a month ago and now I gotta get into this new shit again

Isle take your word for it Pants, rap died for me in 06-07 and I don't have time to go back, I listen to less and less modern music the older I get

He put Compton back on the map. One of the only ones who gets true respect from NWA (Dre, Cube, Ren etc.)

That shit's not hip-hop, that's rap. There's a difference to me.

This is hip-hop

Hip hop is a culture, not a style. I love Tribe's new album. It's amazing. Been fucking with them for a loooong time.

I see what you mean though. You prefer that 90's era horns, keys, maybe some guitar and spoken word type of hip hop.

Well then here ya be:

DEFINITELY this:

Spot on. I'm not a fan of the newer rap. I like the spoken rap. Tribe, Jurassic 5, Common, Black Star etc...

I used to get stoned off my ass and watch Def Poetry Jam for hours

That's awesome.

Black Star was on repeat for me and my friends in high school. We caught a lot of artists on the back ends of their prime and dove in deep to their earlier records. I hope kids still do that these days.

Just as an example were the only ones bumpin' Southernplayalistic and ATliens when everybody was on "Hey Ya" and "Sorry Ms Jackson"

We would just drive around smokin' joints to this in the summer. Great times.
