I get all of these except for the Seahawks. I just don't see them being playoff contenders this year
I agree, but they still draw a big number in viewership, which is what it really boils down to.

Yep. Wilson, Seahawks have been amongst the winningest teams the past 5 years, viewers. Pretty easy to get them on TV these days. Seattle isn't tiny either.

Steelers 5 primetime games:

Week 3 Sep. 24 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Mon.) 8:15 PM ESPN
Week 4 Sep. 30 Baltimore Ravens 8:20 PM NBC
Week 10 Nov. 8 Carolina Panthers (Thurs.) 8:20 PM FOX/NFLN
Week 11 Nov. 18 at Jacksonville Jaguars * 8:20 PM NBC
Week 14 Dec. 9 at Oakland Raiders * 8:20 PM NBC

How this game didn't get primetime is beyond me:
Week 15 Dec. 16 New England Patriots * 4:25 PM CBS

I think the only game most people would have a problem with is the OAK game. That's a late night west coast matchup. Meaning everyone on the east coast probably won't be able to watch the entire game.

This could be a trying year for their fanbase. Should be interesting to see if their viewership numbers drop because of the bandwagoneers jumping ship.

Yeah, there will be bandwagoners jumpin'. The actual fans know they're fine longterm though.

At my work there is a group of Seahawk fans... I think between the 4 of them they could name maybe 5-8 players on the roster. Actually come to think of it, now that Sherman & Bennett are gone that's 2 less names they know.

They were all in an uproar when Marshawn Lynch came back.... to the Raiders

Russell Wilson is one of the most popular/exciting/entertaining players in the league, and C-link is one of the best atmospheres in pro sports, especially for a prime time game.

Sorta funny seeing fans from GB and Pittsburgh -- maybe the 2 biggest bandwagon fan teams in the NFL -- talk about bandwagon Seattle fans.

With the flex schedule, there still could be a chance Pit/NE gets slotted for SNF

I didn't think you could flex into primetime? Just from morning to afternoon?

Maybe so, I always thought NBC had a right to flex any game from 2 weeks out and times of the game didn't matter.

Hmm I think its been done before, but I'm not sure.

Just kind of hit me. I think CBS/FOX have a right first to lock certain games that can't be flexed so my thinking is the NE/Pitt game got locked in for them.

Rules only state CBS and FOX will be consulted.

  • The NFL will decide (after consultation with CBS, FOX, NBC) and announce as early as possible the game being played at 8:15 p.m. ET. The announcement will come no later than 12 days prior to the game. The NFL may also announce games moving to 4:05 p.m. ET and 4:25 p.m. ET.

Interesting. I swore way back they could lock in a very small games that couldn't get flexed by NBC. I'm wondering if that changed just recently.

When I was working I gave up watching night games because I had to get up too early.

Now I'm retired and and still don't watch them because I can't stay up that late.

A friend of mine and I realized that we would just stay up and watch the intro to Sunday Night Football to see the hot country chicks with the long legs and short skirts, and then turn it off and go to bed.

Yes, Country for Old Men, but after that, good night.
