Cormac McCarthy is an amazing writer. I'm not sure there is one true explanation. The dialogue from the movie is practically word-for-word from the book.

The rotation actually pitches well
Betts,Ramirez and JBJ do something
Holt doesn't run into outs
Bullpen doesn't have a let-down

Did you like the movie?

Yeah it was pretty good. Nice to have a movie that doesn't follow typical crime plot lines. Had to rewind a couple of parts to make sure what happened had just happened. Did not like how easily the Harrelson character was taken care of though.

I've read a couple of McCarthy books - The Road and Child of God (which is real fucked up). All seem to be more character studies, i.e. how certain characters respond in certain situations, than movies with actual distinct plots.
