Sammy gets a lot of flack, but he's a very reasonable number 3 starter, with very good stuff so he can have nights like this now and then.

The narrative on him is unfortunate (for him), especially compared to Matt Moore, who has been pretty bad overall, but is given a pass.

I woke up to good news. Gotta say, I wasn't expecting that.

Well done, boys!

Don't usually see Posey get pissed.

A lot of people are saying he's mad at Nevin (or Belt, but how is that Belt's fault?) for not sending him, but I think Posey was pretty pissed at himself for missing a couple fastballs in the zone and not driving them.

Posey doesn't show his teammates up like that.

First, hello everyone. I'm not dead.

Second, Sammy is a conundrum. His variance is just so high game to game, but year to year, he may be the most consistent pitcher in the bigs.

Over the last four years, he's put up an average of 212 IP, ERA+ 100, WHIP 1.23 with not a lot of variance.

He's the very definition of a #3. The disconnect is that he can look like he did last night (an ace) and he can look like he did in his two games vs. the Rox.

Overall, a solid signing. However, it does bring up a good question: Say Bum comes back after the ASB, Cain is still pitching well, as is Blach. Moore is steady and Sammy is Sammy. What happens then?

I think you HAVE to move Blach to the bully. He would become Affeldt/Smith for the rest of the year. Beede would either come up as a bully arm, or wait for next year.

I am more interested in what happens next year. IF (if if if if if) Cain ends the season with 170 IP and a sub 3.00 ERA, do you buy him out and try to resign him? Do you pick up the option? Do you let him walk? If the team is in sell mode, do they try to trade Sammy and/or Moore? If Cueto does not become Cueto, is he tradable? Do you want to trade him? Will he opt out anyway?

Lots of sub-plots still to play out this year.

I've been wondering where you ran off to. Expect that I know where you were because we are all your alts.

To answer your question, I think there's a good shot Cueto is traded, unless the Giants really turn it around. I would also say, a lot can happen between now and July, especially with SPers.
