Only thing anyone else in the league could have done is entice Russ with a multi-year guaranteed contract. No one offered that. So he got to choose the team he wanted to gift a free season to.
And Fields turned down 4 different suitors to get to go to Pittsburgh.
So if he's not Good enough for them, why does he have to be good enough for us?
He doesn't have to be replaced, that's a choice. Could take a wr, a tackle, or trade down.
Fields is no different than Pickett. They are both reclamation projects. Both ruined by OC's and HC's, if either ever had a chance.
I'm not looking at Fields as a possible Franchise Player ever, and that's what a team needs.
Ain't gotta be Fields. Like I said in the general forum:
-----
I'd see them go after a FA Tannehill before trading for Fields.
My opinion is to build the offensive support this year, and then draft a QB next year.
Get the OL fixed, get some WR's, then bring a shiny new QB into a stable...

He's also 31. He's had a long career and is still very productive. I'd love to have him. But he's on the wrong side of the financials for this. Makes him more of a hinderance than any benefit unless she was willing to play for a LOT less right now.
And with his age right now is all you can...
