I agree about the hitting. But don't sell short the difficulty of playing defense. He throws left so he's limited to 1B/OF. Fielding ground balls isn't for everyone. And tracking a flyball hit by a professional isn't easy either. There's so many basic skills of baseball that have to be...
Independent league teams will line up for the guy because he'd be great for selling tickets. But just like his ego won't let him play arena ball or in Canada, he probably won't "lower" himself to an independent. He's a heck of an athlete and was very good in High School baseball, but I can't...
So what do we think of Tim Tebow wanting to play baseball? He's a heck of an athlete. I can see an independent league team offer him a job. He'd be a sure fire draw at the gate. But I can't see him getting any further than A ball, and maybe not even A+ level. He was good in High School but...
8 days in London. We are celebrating our 30th Anniversary.
I'm happy with the team. My pitching has been pretty dependable. And I've had fairly good luck with no big injuries. I lost Fielder but he wasn't doing much anyway and I had already benched him.
You are assuming he has two good years. If he keeps hitting .250 and playing lousy defense he won't be looking at a pay raise in 2 years.
But ... baseball been berry berry good to Yustin Upton!
(tips hat to Chico Salmone)
Here's what I want to know. Why wasn't Porter penalized for being on the field and jawing with the Cincy players? Mind you, I don't follow either team. I think Burfict should have been ejected for that cheap shot. But I think Porter should have been flagged along with Jones.
I watched that Bowie/Crosby duet when it was first broadcast. I remember Bowie coming out on stage and having him next to Crosby looked so strange. And then we were all floored at that amazing duet.
Apparently he lost an 18 month battle with cancer. I guess they kept it quiet. Yes, he did release an album recently but you know how that goes. It was probably recorded months ago and been in post production. He was a unique talent. We won't see another like him any time soon...
Two words for you: Carl Crawford. I've watched Price for years. He's a goofy, happy go lucky guy with thin skin. That town is a bad fit for him, as is the ball park. I like Price and don't wish him ill, but I think his Boston experience isn't going to be a good one.
Zobrist was a good signing for the Cubs. Gives them a veteran to lead the infield. He's still a slick fielder and he will fit right in, in the #2 hole in the lineup.
I wouldn't give up on Sandoval just yet. He may bounce back. But the only way they are getting rid of Ramirez is to pay someone to take him. Other than one hot streak, he didn't hit last year. And he doesn't have a defensive position. He's a train wreck.
Price's velocity was down this year. In past years it was common for him to be at 97-98. This year I like he was around 96. I mean, that's still freaking hard. But when velocity starts a dropping, it typically does not go up ... unless PEDs are involved. (See: Clemens, Roger)
I almost spit water on my keyboard when I read that. Cracked me up.
:lol::pound:
But yeah, you get a chance to set yourself up like that, don't pass it up. Like isn't fair and bad things happen. You could never get that chance again.
That extension was a total kick in the shins for Yankmee fans. A lot of them were convinced that Trout was going go free agent as soon as he could and run to the Yanks. Nope. When Evan Longoria signed his long term deal with the Rays, he was asked why he would put off free agency. His answer...
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Strasburg. He's been hurt a few times and he's been up and down. Yes, he is a front line starter and he's posted some good numbers but there's just something about him that makes me not trust him. Starting pitching is hard to come by so he's valuable. I just...
