2024 NFL draft - 1st round Packers should select what position?

Mock draft philosophy is to draft for "team need". The Packers philosophy is to compile a draft board and stick to it. If there happens to be a "tie in ratings", player position is a tie breaker. Therefore, I think they choose the best player on their board regardless of position (but the...

I've always preferred a 4-down-lineman scheme. Right now, GB has the players to make that switch.

In prime-Favre/Holmgren years, Dallas was that team. When GB finally got to the Superbowl in '96 & '97, the Packers avoided Dallas; they didn't have to beat them. Maybe it will play out that way one of these years, too.

I'm pretty sure no one here expects GB to win, but after GB's performance in DAL our hope went from about 1% to about 20%.

Starr & Rodgers beat Dallas every time. Favre never beat Dallas. Quirky.

You're not wrong. Now think back to all the times the Packers dominated the regular season before flopping in the playoffs under McCarthy... ... I'm not saying I expect it to happen; but given recent history, there's some hope. ...And boy would it be fun if it actually happened...

The Packers knocking the Cowboys out of the playoffs in McCarthy's best season in Dallas would be epic!

I'm of the perspective that a head coach should evenly distribute his time ensuring all three aspects of the team are tight (offense, defense and special teams). His job should be to steer the entire ship. When your head coach's focus is primarily on the offense, far too often the defense and...

Yes he is. I hate seeing his name attached to Packers reporting.

I've always been in favor of aggressive defenses. If you're playing someone like DeVito (inexperienced) or Mayfield (mistake-prone), the defense should be deploying pressure schemes from all angles to force the opposing QB into mistakes. Instead, we get a vanilla defense that even DeVito and...

It's mostly scheme - DC's fault. With notorious running QBs, I've noticed Barry has deployed a spy a little more often recently; but there wasn't much of a book on DeVito running until Monday's game. If Barry was smart, he would've focused harder on deploying schemes to stop the run and...

Barkley was averaging 2 yards per carry for most of the game. He had like 2 runs out of 20 that were big chunk runs and one of them ended in the fumble that gave the Packers a chance at winning the game. DeVito was your typical Barry/Capers "cover the receivers but leave the middle of the...

GB was bound to lose one of these games against the Giants or Bucs. The Bucs are currently a greater threat to playoff hopes than NYG, so if I had to choose to lose one of them, I would've chosen losing to @NYG. I have some level of confidence that GB will bounce back and play a decent game...

For the most part, GB's D was keeping Barkley in check. He broke off a couple runs, but were stuffing him at the line of scrimmage pretty well most of the game. The Packers defensive line was the only position group that I thought played a good game. I think the Packers D would've stuffed a...

That last drive of the game should've been for the tie to head into overtime. LaFleur called a jet sweep on their 2-point try. That was dumb. Those plays are good when you've got a lot of open field to work with - when you can send your receivers deep and push the secondary back and open up...

Additionally, last night: -Love's passing accuracy sucked -Both tackles sucked -The Prevent defense on the last drive of the game sucked (I've always hated that) -The refs sucked -The Giants equally sucked in all areas Both teams deserved to lose. :L Throughout the game, my brother and I...

    2023 Packers regular season thread

The recent success has a lot to do with increased steadiness of the offensive line, the steady maturation of the WR corps and LaFleur's adjustments in play-calling concepts. All three aspects still have significant room for improvement, but the Packers just proved these last two games that...

Hopefully the increased difficulty in schedule will be at least matched by Packers' improvement through team experience, health and a couple quality free agent signings.

Yeah, that's a LOT of rookies getting meaningful reps and holding their own. Can't be mad about that. Really, the only guy on that list I kinda expected to do what he's doing in year #1 is Musgrave. Van Ness is getting more reps than I thought he would and is showing steady improvement as the...

It's the darkest before dawn. It feels like everything that could go wrong did through the bulk of this season, but even through all of that the team wasn't getting blown out for 60 minutes. These are trials that teams need to overcome before they can become powerful. It's very difficult to...

...Six total losses - four of them were to mediocre teams by four points or less - the two > 4 were by to two teams pushing for a playoff berth That's really not that bad considering... - this is the QB's first year as a starter - every WR on the roster is in their first or second year in the...

Rasual Douglas + 5th round pick shipped to BUF for a 3rd round pick. This doesn't make the Packers a better team right now, but it doesn't hurt them too bad, either. Every "great play" I ever remember Douglas making was because he was accidentally in the right spot.
