Went to Chapel Hill to watch the UNC/NC State series. Heels won the series, but, couldn't complete the sweep today. Good to see 3 straight sell outs for college ball down here. We went 4-1 this week with the toughest stretch of our schedule ahead of us.
AZ, where are you getting that info from? Boyd's World, PG and Baseball America would beg to differ on your assessment of the ACC. True, they haven't won the CWS, but, there aren't any programs that would want to schedule us with all the beans on the line.
Congrats to Edisto Tiger for squeaking out a series win against the Heels over the weekend. The first two games were tight with Clemson coming from behind in the 9th before the Heels bats came alive preventing the sweep.
Up and down year for the Heels. After losing games they should this year they go down to Atlanta and win the series over GT...a place Carolina typically struggles. We hadn't won a series down there since 2009.
Tar Heels take the series against dook. So far the biggest problem with the Heels is the weather. They moved their series with UCLA down to Orlando, the series against Rhode Island had to be played in Florence, SC, our mid-week game against St. Johns was cancelled and a mid-week tilt against...
The Heels had a terrible March and in fact lost 7 out of 8 games. They seem to have turned it around a little this week with a mid-week win over UNC-Wilmington and shut out over Boston College 7-0 yesterday.
Kind of a wierd ball park at BC. The on-deck circle is right in front of the dugout...
He'll get attention allright. I suppose now the IRS has the right to tax the benefits these players (excuse me. "employees") receive in the form of scholarships and free transportation/meals/clothing. Meanwhile their poor parents are left with losing a $2,500 college tax credit and trying to...
Announced this weekend that closer, Chris McCue, will miss the remainder of the season due to a blood clot in his left shoulder. Will be undergoing multiple proceedures to correct the problem throughout the spring. Trouble is he is a Junor and will likely get a pretty good draft slot...
For what this team gave us in December and January, I am happy that we were in the E8 discussions. Tough season and in a way, happy it's behind us. Hate the way we lost to ISU, but perhaps this motivates us to get to the Final 4 next year.
Props to Paige this year...stepped up to get us to...
Heels drop the series against GT. They moved Sunday's game up to Saturday for a double-header. Unfortunately, the first game went 13 innings. By the time the second game started, the young Tar Heels were speant. GT beat the crap out of them 9-1 in the rubber match.
It was also announced...
Watched the UNC/Ga. Tech series on ESPN3 this weekend. Gotta say that I like Aaron Fitt as an announcer. I know he is better known as the Baseball America writer, but he brings a REAL perspective on things when doing live games.
Looks like ISU's stud forward broke his foot last night. Probably a bigger break for us as that guy would have been tough for us to guard.
I am currently tied for 1,196th place in the InsideCarolina bracket challenge...got everyone right where I want them!!
I have UofL winning it all, with...
Heels take the series from Maryland and improve to 14-5 (4-2) on the year. Looks like our bats are starting to come alive as we won 9-4 today and 7-0 Friday. Lost Saturdays game 3-2 on a walk off single in the 9th.
The Heels won their series with Xavier (2-1), but continue to struggle at the plate. Today a couple of Freshman sealed the win with some timely hitting in the 9th to win the game 3-2. This group may be pretty good come May, but it's going to be painful getting to that point.
Yeah...we generally don't play well there. FSU has a lot to do with that though. I think a win down there would be HUGE for us...especially heading into the dook game. Getting a little concerned with the minutes Page is having to play. He admitted at the end of the Pitt game he was really tired.
Heels take the 2nd game with College of Charleston 12-3. Rubber match tomorrow with a freshman on the bump! Should be interesting. This is a rebuilding year for UNC, but CofC is a good squad and should make the tourney this year...again. A road series win would go along way toward building...
The Heels drop their opener to College of Charleston after the game was moved down to Charleston due to snow and ice on Boshammer Stadium in Chapel Hill.
I have been lax in my posting. Should be back on here more when college baseball starts up.
The way we have been playing in this 5 game stretch gives me hope we can beat dook. Our strength is our defense and that happens to be dook's weakness. I have hope....
