It still would have just been 2 outs if Belt/Craw made the play, can't assume the DP. I think one of those runs will come back as un-earned, after they correct the box score
Yeah that was odd.... but I guess he wanted to give Barager a chance to come into a clean situation versus one with traffic. Now he can start the next inning with some confidence after the first game/batter jitters have passed.
Good shit today, Gausman. He was a hair away from a shutout too, if Yaz's throw to 2nd base was just a little bit better (can we just cut this guy already?)
I agree, I had the most faith in Williamson. Dude had some unreal batted-ball stats (hard-hit, distance etc.). That mound business really sucked, glad it was finally addressed.
Gausman just threw three heaters by Murphy. I think I saw 60 pitches through 5?
Before the game, Kapler said that Gausman was all stretched out and not on any sort of pitch count.
Better late than never. For awhile there, he was looking like another Schierholtz/Lewis/Parker/Williamson/Bowker type. Hopefully he can stay healthy, because he looks to be blossoming whenever he's stayed on the field
This isn't intended to be an overreaction to today's game, just a general feeling based on last year and what we've seen so far in spring and today: I really like this offense. You have guys top-to-bottom working the count, some guys with pop peppered in, great match-up abilities. It's very...
Gausman building up velocity as the game is going on. Was 91-93 in the first, mixed in some 94-95 in the 2nd/3rd/4th. Finished off that inning with 97 on the black (with some tailing action).
