Not sure if everyone is aware, but teams can only carry 165 players in the minors during the year. This is down from 180 players just last season. This won't impact prospects in the organization, but it does hurt the veteran minor leaguers. That's 450 jobs that have disappeared.

That's an opening day lineup. Surprised Panda isn't in there but I guess he can hit for Soler after a couple...
I don't know if anyone else is watching the game tonight but three things leapt out at me:
1. Hicks is absolutely FILTHY. 5 IP, 0 H 10K
2. Murphy is a large human. 2 solo bombs and he made it look easy
3. I know it's Monday night and it's preseason, but there can't be more than 2,000 people at...
I don't think Roupp makes the 40. I think Black and Jefferies do. My guess is Cobb starts on the IL. Ahmed will make the 40; Luci will go to AAA (but not for long).
SP: Webb, Harry, Hicks, Black, Snell
RP: Doval, Jax, Tyler, Taylor, Walker, Small, Jefferies, Winn
C: Bales, Murph
IF: LWJ...
Bit of an interesting observation. Ismael Munguia has not officially been reassigned yet, so he is still "in camp" with spring training coming to an end. There is no obvious path for him to make the roster, but perhaps a sign of how the Giants view him?
Logan Webb is set to make this 3rd Opening Day start for the Giants, tying him with John Montefusco, Mike Krukow, John Burkett, and Liván Hernández on the franchise leaderboard. Juan Marichal holds the franchise record with 10 Opening Day starts.
These former Giants are all FAs on March 22. Historically, FAs on March 22 have very little chance of ever playing in the bigs again. Anyone here likely to make a comeback?
The other SP today got the crap knocked out of him...again. NINE ER in the first inning. I know it's ST, but damn ace -- can we see a good game before we go to SD?
Edit: not all on Webb. He left T1 down 0-4 and Kiest came in and gave up the other 5 runs. Webb went back in to pitch in the second...
Luis Matos has been the best hitter in camp (6 2B, 4 HR, 11 RBI, 1.013), so he's made a very strong case to make the Opening Day roster, especially if an injury creates an opportunity. If so, there's a non-zero chance he just runs with the opportunity and sticks.
I do think there's a case to be...
