Was watching 'The Walking Dead' tonight and thought of this place for some reason..........well, not this forum particularly, but more the site. This was easily the best Giants forum on the net. And the guy most responsible that, Filo, is gone?
As for my absence - a few reasons:
13000 posts...
Looks like it will be made illegal sooner rather than later.
ban mlb plate collisions likely - Buster OlNEY ESPN
Pretty much hit all the points we discussed on the Giants board (or was it on the ESPN Board?) years ago. doesn't it? Maybe some of the knuckle draggers in evidence on this...
BS. I gave you a chance to respond in an intelligent, informed way, but you chose to mock Buster's "manhood" instead. Really, this whole thread is nothing more than you trolling your own site. Kind of pathetic, if you ask me.
The Giants are acknowledging a change already well underway. The fact that they're gaining any traction at all shows that. No team or player would have even thought of proposing a rule change 25 years ago. Just take off your fanboy glasses for a moment and think about how many times you've seen...
Ah, I see...you're a Padres fan. I guess that's as good as an excuse as any other. Still, I think if you knew the game a little better, you would see the game started moving away from violently taking out catchers a while ago. Mostly initiated by the players themselves.
Teams have known for a few years how the Giants play the game - hasn't helped the league much, has it? And I'm sure the tough guy talk is a big hit at your beer league pizza bash.
Lots of ignorance on display in this thread. Some points:
Posey has always left the plate open. That's the way Giants instruct all their catchers to play. They practice taking the ball in front of the plate and applying a swipe tag. The Fielder play in game 2 of the WS is a perfect example of...

I don't think the Giants see Kieschnick as a fifth outfielder. In order to make the club, he'd have to push Blanco or Torres to the fifth outfielder position.
Agree, outside of an act of God, he had no chance of making the team. The White Sox have penciled in Keppinger at 3rd base, so they're pretty weak there.
Goner is Gone (from Shulman):
Ventura might see a little bit of himself in Coner. And note the draft date and current age of Soptic (2001, 21) - talk about a project. Pav's take.
Theriot is a perfect fit for this team. If he doesn't find a regular gig somewhere else, I hope he comes back into the fold. And what leads you to believe that Abreu and Tanaka can produce similarly to Theriot?
