Hadn't seen that, but it doesn't at all surprise me. I think that Oz is most likely finished in Denver. Elway's comments, along with history, suggest that he's not about to get into a bidding war.

Brock Osweiler may indeed resign with Denver. But that, at this time, is far from a certainty. Other QB-needy teams will make this tough.

Good read. Thanks for posting. I particularly enjoyed this part of what Mariucci had to say:
"I've coached against a lot of great quarterbacks. By great, I'm talking Warren Moon, Troy Aikman, Tom Brady, John Elway, Brett Favre, and the list goes on. ... But Peyton was the master of the chess...
Something that I've thought about is the possibility of the Rams signing Oz and cutting Keenum, who then becomes the next great former UH Cougar to star in Denver. Not too likely, I suppose, but it would certainly be a great story!
Good read. I found particularly interesting Kubiak's comments about the challenges presented by trying to incorporate his offensive philosophy with what Manning had had so much previous success.
Also loved Brandon Marshall's remarks about PM's role in helping to get Marshall from the...
Never heard of him or his school, but I found this:NAIA football player Wendell Williams runs 4.19 40 at regional combine
Except:
"University of Cumberlands plays in the NAIA, and is not to be confused with fellow NAIA school Cumberland University (seriously). Cumberlands is in Williamsburg...
I agree that Jackson is almost certainly gone. Someone on here posted this week the possibility of moving Williams to DE and starting Kilgo at NT. That idea is also mentioned here:
Broncos Who Should See Their Role Expand
Pretty much my thinking too, Sonny. The trick is to maintain a strong defense, improve the running game, and get a QB who can at least manage games. Also need some luck, as does every team, at avoiding key injuries. All that still doesn't guarantee anything, but, to me, that is the smart...
Agreed. I hope the offer is for only two or three years, which seems consistent to me with what he's said: "... this won’t be his big contract, but this will be a contract where he’ll be able to make very good money and be able to prove himself that could lead to that next big contract.”
Exactly. It's pure speculation, although Elway's history and his comments on getting an extension done suggest to me that Elway isn't prepared to over pay for Oz.
In the last game of the regular season, against SD, the Broncos were down in the third quarter when Kubiak replaced Osweiler with Manning, who led an important comeback win. Had never not won that game, they wouldn't have had home field throughout the playoffs.
I think Denver will offer him something like that, maybe even a little more. I also think it's likely, however, that a team like the Texans, Rams, or Browns offers quite a bit more, in which case Osweiler won't return.
Were or are Doug Williams, Jeff Hostetler, Mark Rypien, Eli Manning, Joe Flacco, or last year's version of Peyton Manning "great" QBs? I'd say the list is three times longer than the QBs of the three teams you mention.
Still, I think you miss the point, which is that Elway is not going to...
Jones is hard to project. He's got a lot of talent, but not much experience, and pretty much never played from under center. I think he'd be worth a mid to late round pick for a team that doesn't need him to play for a year or two.
I saw the Broncos win the SB with mostly poor QB play and a stellar defense. "Common sense" tells me that it makes more sense to try that recipe again than it does to pay Oz around $20 million a year.
LOL Like you know the "bottom line". You know shit. You simply hope that Denver gets into a bidding war. If you knew how Elway operates, you wouldn't claim that it's a lock that Oz plays in Denver this season.
I don't know what you mean by "plenty", but if some team offers something close to what Cousins or Bradford just signed, then I'm pretty sure you're mistaken.
Your posts above suggest that you "hope" Denver overpays for Oz, but if you're also claiming to know that they will, then you're simply...
Right about what? You claim it's a 100% chance that Oz signs in Denver. My claim is that it's less than a 50% chance that he signs in Denver, because I think another team is going to offer him more than what Elway's prepared to pay.
LOL You can make up shit about "lead pipe cinches", but that only shows your ignorance about how Elway runs the team. He has already said that this "won't be Brock's big contract" (i.e., if he signs with Denver).
Of course they do. Trevor Siemian, cheaper free agents, and drafting a QB are all alternatives. Pretty sure Elway noticed last year that a very good defense is perfectly capable of making up for a mediocre offense. I think it's less than 50/50 that Oz plays for Denver this season.
What Quinn said makes it pretty clear that he wasn't the coach who asked the question:
"“I am really disappointed in the question that was asked by one of our coaches,” Quinn said. “I have spoken to the coach that interviewed Eli Apple and explained to him how inappropriate and unprofessional...
I think the biggest risk is to not keep the defense intact as much as possible. We saw last year that that defense doesn't need great QB play in order to win.
