Imagine this scenario that was on the verge of happening just before WVU joined the B12.
Texas and Oklahoma leave for the P12 and the SEC. Kansas gets the invite to the B1G.
The remaining 7 teams are not "top tier" enough to be a P5 conference.
What do you think would happen?
I agree there is NO WAY WVU gets in the B1G. Not a chance.
I wish I could agree with you on the ACC but I just don't see it.
If they wanted WV, we would already be a member.
There is some long standing issues between WV and several ACC teams.
I would be shocked to see us get an invite there at...
I don't put all of WVUs shortcomings since joining the B12 at the feet of Dana.
But unfortunately, the coach is the whipping boy when things turn sour.
Players need to shoulder some of the blame. We need some guys to get out there and claim
their role in making this team a success. Kevin White...
So when the B12 implodes, as I am thinking it will in the next 3 to 5 years - where do OU and TX land?
Both to the SEC or 1 to P12 and 1 to the SEC? Do they stick together or split up and go their own way?
The B12s biggest problem is there are ZERO dream choices out there to add.
The available...
Given the talent loss and the unknowns for the coming season - I can see why they rank WV where they do.
Frankly, I would be cool with 8-4. I think 9-3 is achievable if they play to potential.
September will determine WVUs fate.
You can argue either way as to how WVU stacks up in the B12.
They are the bottom or lower level vs. they are in upper level but have had bad breaks.
I think they are a good team with a good coach. They have not performed at their ability though.
So they have completed seasons in the middle...
I think Joseph is a very intense player. I would like to see his enthusiasm spread to some of his
defensive teammates. I'm not saying he is alone in his intensity, but that level of focus by more
and more of the defense can only lead to good things on the field.
I really do not see a scenario where RR agrees to return. I may be wrong.
Would love to see him back - but I am afraid the anger over his departure, for many, is still very raw.
Yes, he is in the NCAA. I do recall. Guess I wan't paying attention. Duh :yawning:
So why in WVU's? I mean, he was ok. Hardly record breaking.
6 years, .618 % wins, 42-26-0. 12th on the list of coaches. 5th in total wins.
3 good seasons out of 6. I guess compared to the rest - he stands out?
That's not really news, is it? WVU has been talking about scheduling Pitt since the series expired
after the 2011 game. I didn't see any quote from a Pitt official saying, yes - we are interested.
I don't see it on the horizon. Pitt just isn't that into us.
As I said previously, assuming we enter the conference schedule 3-0 (we better), if WV can
navigate October with a 2-2 outcome, then I can see a path to 8 wins. 1-3 and I see a repeat
of last seasons 7-5 or possibly even 6-6. I guess for me, the Offense is suspect until I see who
will step up...
I do not like the OOC schedule we have to deal with. Need an upgrade in strength. 1 cupcake is ok, but 2?
And then MD as the 3rd. They are doing as well as can be expected in th B10 I suppose.
When the Conference schedule begins, it begins with a Bang.
@ Ok, OK St at home. Then @ Baylor and...
They did - but without looking it up, pretty sure they paid a couple of million vs. now it is like $20M.
I am sure it is out there with a search, just don't have the bandwidth right now.
But, short of a conference having the ability to mitigate the fees, no ACC team
is going to jump unless the...
I wouldn't get too excited. They are simply stating they want to see playoff expansion to
guarantee an ACC team is in the hunt. No one is going anywhere, their new deal makes
it too expensive.
I wasn't expecting much over .500 from this team at the start. Then as I watched them play, I thought these guys could mature into a great team. When it became apparent they were seriously lacking in the scoring department, I settled in on them being a very GOOD team. And they were. They had...
This was a case of stallions against quarter horses. WV was out-matched from the get go.
Huggy figured out how to get smothering D out of this group - now he needs to figure out
how to get some scoring schemes in place.
All of the things I said WV needed to do to have a chance.... shoot well, rebound, hit a few and 3's and drop their free throws, they didn't do. I didn't expect them to win - but I didn't expect them to lose in historic fashion.
A horrible end to a very entertaining season. I loved watching this...
It was said earlier in the thread - WV must play near perfect ball.
They can't miss the open shots and have to hit the freethrows - a few 3's couldn't hurt.
They MUST control the boards - preferably on both ends of the floor.
The REAL key will be the officiating. Will they let WV play their...
I agree - I actually thought Butler would blow TX off of the court. So they played above what I expected.
BU and I St however, other than Kansas - the supposed cream of the B12. Not a good day for the conf.
So it sounds like Browne MAY be able to play tonight, but Staten is not going to see any action.
I seriously doubt Browne will see extensive time. Why risk re-injury and him missing NCAAs?
WV will need a lot of help from the bench today and will need to execute at near perfection.
