Well we really have no clue, no one is ever honest with media anyway. Obviously the money had to be there but Sam may have helped get the ball rolling.
Sam and Murray were college roommates. There's no way 2 guys who lived together go to the same team in the same week without at least having a conversation.
You need a contingency plan. MM may or may not be attainable. We won't know until draft day. Now he has a QB he likes, there's never just 1 guy you have your eye on, this leaves him options.
The trade may not be an option on draft day. The Rams had other teams interested and wanted to get the deal done in time to make moves in FA. The Eagles would have had to pass over FA's despite having cap space in case they needed to make the Bradford trade. Bradford may be moved by then...
This is a point that can't be over emphasized. NFL coaches don't know college players because they can't spend the time with them to do so. Chip knows MM as well as anyone.
I never said Bradford was in high demand, just that there was more demand for him than Foles who I haven't heard any team show interest in other than the Rams.
Chip made the trade for Bradford because he doesn't want to give the farm. Trading up to #10 doesn't cost as much as trading into the...
Coug has a point though, multiple teams were vying for Bradford and the Rams got Foles and the better of the picks. No one was offering a lot for Foles. For whatever reason there is more demand for Bradford than Foles.
I wasn't meaning to limit the Rams to those 2 picks, just saying I would want both. It could be those 2 picks as well as a 2nd and a 4th. I meant it more as a starting point because consecutive picks in the 1st is a great position to be in.
If that was really the case I'd say get Cleveland on 3 way call and we will take the 19th and 20th pick. Browns get Bradford, Eagles get #10, Rams get #19, #20.
I'm not too concerned about bench at the combine. Try working out after you don't sleep well, it kills productivity. Like others said it may have just been a bad day, you can see his strength on the field.
Iowa pro day is on the 23rd, I'm sure he will look to show better there.
Who played 16 games just once in his first 9 seasons. Ask any Steelers fan, his health is a constant discussion. A lot of Steelers fans credit his 4-game suspension in 2010 with launching our SuperBowl run because he wasn't as banged up.
