Rust and Wilson should be on the team rest of the year, no question. I think Rust and Sheary bring similar things, but Rust is just better, his game reminds me of Lee Stempniak.

I like the Maata deal, I think he becomes a better offensive player as he ages. Defensemen develop late, so at 21 he still has major upside. I don't think he is the skater that Josi and Klingberg are though, I think he can be a better defender though.

For comparison's sake Pedro's career line against RHP 246/320/473, so the Pirates are giving up strikeouts, hr's and bad defense for OBP and more injury risk.

Love the deal, career 274/368/429 line against right handed pitching, he does have some health issues, which is probably what pushed his value down.

I don't think Morse has much value, and it's not like they don't need bench bats, I'd keep him. Jaso and Rogers can theoretically play other positions besides 1B.

Fine below average for Malkin, he's 28th in scoring, and 28th in points per game, he's been in the top 5-10ish for points per game since he's been in the league.

I'd still like to see them get Jaso on a 2/10-14 deal to play 1B/RF, he's left handed so it is a perfect fit. And Fister is still interesting on a 2/20 deal. I think that would be a tremendously efficient use of funds they have left.

Yeah, he clearly wasn't ready to play big minutes, but they should have figured that out before he played 9 games. If they were going to keep him, he needed to play 10-14 minutes per night, and they weren't willing to play him that much. I have no problem with them deeming he wasn't ready...
